Can a Woman Use ResMed Air Sense 10??

Post by Viraj3474 » Sun Dec 01, 2024 4:09 pm

I am reading that the RM Air Sense 10 For Her is discontinued! Can a woman use the black (Men’s???) ResMed Air Sense 10? They are still available.

Of course, there's no such thing as male and female CPAP's. For some reason, ResMed decided to market the "For Her" model for women because it was prettier, and the algorithms were supposedly "better" for women, but many men liked those algorithms too, and most women (including me) can use the regular model just fine.

If you want your machine to look better, buy a skin. The regular CPAP works fine for all genders.

If women couldn't use the non-For Her devices. And the For Her devices were discontinued, then effectively women wouldn't have CPAP solutions.

I think that's pretty compelling evidence that women don't *have* to use For Her devices.

The AirSense 11 model AutoSet machine has the "for Her" mode included as standard offering.
It has
1...fixed cpap mode
2...regular auto adjusting mode
3...the special for her auto adjusting mode.
So if you really want or need the "for Her" mode and you can't find the AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her mode machine you might look at the AirSense 11 AutoSet.

But yes....women can use the regular AirSense 10 auto adjusting mode even if it doesn't have the for her mode available.

Thank you Pugsy. Will purchase the regular Air Sense 10 as the price is right for a backup.

Thanks for your opinion. Am going to go for the regular Air Sense 10. It’s a solid machine and the price is right. 😊

I used a loaner "For Her" for 10 months. The RT at the DME was messing with my pressure settings (it belonged to them)--they said that that they couldn't get insurance to pay for my own machine until they could prove the treatment was working. I finally changed it myself. They left me alone after I changed it. Then I finally got my own Air Sense 10, and put it on airplane mode. My treatment is much better with it, but that could be because I am not worried that they will unnecessarily try to blow my brains out without telling me and cranking the pressure to 20 to supposedly deal with centrals.

I truly can't tell the difference between the algorithms. I know a man that has a "for Her" with no problems. I like the looks of the Air Sense 10 better.
