Hi there, newbie to the forum here but a long time cpap user. I’m wondering if anyone else has had the issue where somehow air gets into their scalp and creates a feeling of swelling or tightness in the scalp as well as a popping sound when they move their forehead up and down or touch their scalp in a certain place.
This is happening to me now, and has happened once before, and my doctor is stumped. The only thing I can figure is that somehow cpap pushes air throug a small hole? I did have a meningitis tumour removed 20 years ago so there was some work done on my head..,maybe that helps explain it?
I find it makes me anxious…I just want to know what it is and that it’s not dangerous.
Thanks for any feedback. I know it’s an odd symptom
Wendy

Re: Has anyone experienced air in their scalp
I have had what I thought was leaking from sinus to a tooth socket after it had been removed... entirely plausible. Such a hole could be dealt with surgically I guess... in fact probably should, air in your scalp is not going to be one you'll find in a search here I'll bet. Work with your doctor, maybe CPAP is not for you?

Contact the doctors who did your surgery. They would know what they did, what they may have changed structurally, etc. If you don't have a report for that surgery, look for it.Wendylc wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 5:58 amI did have a meningitis tumour removed 20 years ago so there was some work done on my head..,maybe that helps explain it?

Yes, sorry About double posting.
Good idea to check with my surgeon. Hopefully he’s still around. I’ll do that.
