Evaluating Mask by Leak Stats

Post by Tec5 » Sat Nov 04, 2023 10:11 pm

I'm evaluating the Resmed F20 versus the F-P 432 mask.
So i've been using the FP 432 for many months, and lately tried the F20. I am particularily interested in the leak performance of each mask when used on my face.
YMMV
Here are the OSCAR results after 7 days with the F20 mask:

The % time above threshold (25l/m) is easy to validate: The number of minutes at > 25 l/min divided by the total number of minutes of the sleep session.

As far as the "95% leak rate" that a bit more convoluted, and frankly (as Pugsy has pointed out in her thread) may not tell a complete story.

The last piece is the "Average leak Rate" for each sleep session. The problem there is that if the leak data is skewed, the "average" can be misleading. So how could the LR data become skewed?
That leads me to ask the question: How frequently is the leak rate calculation performed?

If the leak is bothering you, use the mask that doesn't leak or fix the leak in the other mask.
