FFM without neck strap headgear

Post by koy » Thu Oct 12, 2023 7:42 pm

I have a spinal injury, and i tried sooo many masks, even trying to cut the back with scissors. best fit for me is evora, but i can't have pressure on the back of my neck at all ( it's not tight, any looser and the lower pard of the cushion start leaking. i fitted my cushion to s-M size after trying LArge as well.

I tried resmed FFM, Dreamwear, Vitera, etc.. they all have neck strap.
i can't sleep with pillow or nasal as i had tongue surgery that let the higher pressure leak in to my cheecks.

I don't know of any full face mask that doesn't use the neck (lower)back strap to anchor the mask. Sorry.

Do you think a strap pad fleece pad cover for that lower mask strap might make it easier on you to use?
Check out the strap pads at padacheek.com

You might have to learn to use a nasal mask of some sort by learning how to keep the air from getting into your oral cavity and creating that leak which I assume causes inflation of the cheeks.
This is very common and isn't really related to the pressures used being higher as much as it is related to air entering the oral cavity when it goes up the nose and down the airway and enters the mouth.
We call it chipmunk cheeks...very common complaint. Do a forum search for it and start reading.
