  • Hi ....everbody , new here .
CPAP user for 2 years , before being diagnosed with moderate sleep apnea and experiencing its harmful effects , I had almost a photographic memory and filled with energy , lost both due to sleep apnea , on starting using CPAP 2 years ago on scale 10 pressure , first 6 months I could not believe benefits I m gaining which starts almost in first week of using CPAP , almost regained my photographic memory , no more brain fog , full of energy , arranging my thoughts went back to normal and was able to function physically and mentally effectively like I had b4 I had the sleep apnea, with all those benefits my AHI was 3 - 6 nothing more , nowdays , my AHI is like below 1 which suppose to be perfect, yet / my condition went back to the worse pointback when I was first diagnosed with sleep apnea , I m so confussed and do not know what to do : b4 my AHI was high but I felt great , nowdays , my AHI is so low but CPAP is not giving me any benefits , my Dr adjusted the pressure multiple time since then ,he re made the study and results according to him were great and that my sleep apnea is under control, I tried dozens of masks designs and sizes , changed humidity level , my CPAP machine is always clean, no mask leakage ,do not know about the snoring as i did not check my pattern .... , yet / nothing changed as my concentration , energy, brain fog , went worse ,
Did some searching and few reasons showed up like 1 I might developed a central sleep apnea and I might need APAP or BIPAP machine 2 something wrong with the machine efficiency that I m not able to figure, yet it works good and my provider says nothing wrong with it 3 my snoring is making my health symptoms goes bad .
Any suggestions of wt pb should I be looking for here will be much much appreciated .

    Thank you

Unless you're using some meds that aren't mentioned and side fX haven't been looked at, I suggest you post a couple of Oscar charts (see Stickies) for experts to look at here and advise.

Agree with Julie.
Read the very first post on the forum, and follow the instructions.
After you've posted OSCAR charts, please add the following info:

my Dr adjusted the pressure multiple time since then
When and why? Did he base it on your AHI? On some complaints you had before it was changed?

he re made the study and results according to him were great and that my sleep apnea is under control
Which study is that? Do you have its results? Get them, hide personal data, and post them.

Have you seen your PCP concerning your health in general?

Thanx for the replay , gaining CPAP magnificent benefits / reclaiming my excellent memory and energy, then losing it all out of sudden felt for me more devastating than when I heard I have sleep apnea 2 years ago :
As a matter of fact, I did start using 1 central nervous stimulant drug and also 1 antidepressant months ago , but the effectiveness of CPAP started going down even before using them , still ; after using them I do not sleep right away at night even after working most of the day, AHI still low tho .mostly below 4 .
Also did notice just very recently after sleeping like 6 hrs hrs max that I m waking up with mask lies beside me that somehow I keep removing it , and not being comfort with it guess not the reason as I used to wear it full nights for more than a year .

2nd study since I been daignosed with apnea ,was 2 months ago , I told my Dr that CPAP is not effective anymore and that something is changed i can feel it in my low body energy, my mood swing , my brain fog, weak memory and very low concentration ( my AHI results was still great tho , went from moderat apnea 15 to like below 6 ), Dr started by increasing the pressure step by step when nothing worked and I also started to ve stomach pain and gases pardon me for first time , he switched to lowering the pressure , that did not work too so I insisted on doing 2nd study which I did 2 months ago ( result came according to him that my apnea is fully under control ) I do not know about other readings within the study charts but I can confirm that my AHI is great even now by using apps , went from 15 since I been diagnosed to like even below 1 sometimes nowdays .

Which study is that? Do you have its results? Get them, hide personal data, and post them.

All my studies were ( nights sleep studies 11 pm - 4 am in sleep apnea clinic ) , I do not ve it but gonna try to get them somehow.

All my physical signs and all my lab tests are good , blood , hormones , no medical condition , vitamins and minerals levels , no thyroid disorders ....etc

Uh... you seem to be talking to yourself in that last post (blame it on apnea) - who did you mean to address?

Sorry , as being new to the site , I guess my replays order and context were not that clear .
Can you be more specific as I did not get what is it that you are referring to !?
Thank you .

You simply missed a quote code in your response, which makes it a bit confusing.

A recap of what you told us - with some things implied in it.
Up to a few year ago you had " almost a photographic memory and filled with energy ".
At a certain point, you lost them.
Something made someone send you for a sleep study in which you were diagnosed with sleep apnea and prescribed a CPAP.
This was 2 years ago
on starting using CPAP 2 years ago on scale 10 pressure , first 6 months I could not believe benefits I m gaining which starts almost in first week of using CPAP , almost regained my photographic memory , no more brain fog , full of energy , arranging my thoughts went back to normal and was able to function physically and mentally effectively like I had b4 I had the sleep apnea,
Sometime ago you started loosing the benefits of CPAP therapy.

After some testing and checking by a professional you were prescribed and are taking
1 central nervous stimulant drug and also 1 antidepressant
which you started taking "some months ago".

Your other health markers are fine.
All my physical signs and all my lab tests are good , blood , hormones , no medical condition , vitamins and minerals levels , no thyroid disorders ....etc
An otherwise healthy person does not get an Rx for an antidepressant and a nerve stimulant for no reason based on short time symptoms.

Do you have another condition that you were hoping would be explained by sleep apnea, and now realized it came back, despite your use of CPAP?

Please read and follow the instructions in this the very first post on the forum.

My bad sorry , I started to understand how this works as I m not usually into such websites

which you started taking "some months ago".
An otherwise healthy person does not get an Rx for an antidepressant and a nerve stimulant for no reason based on short time symptoms.

Long time ago I started taking anti anxiety and anti depression drugs based on drs recommendations , only bcz at some point of my life I started to loose concentration, experincing sever insomnia ,difficulties in arranging thoughts in my mind also even when I speak for no reason at all as my life was more than fine on all aspects. ,all my tests and physical examination proof that I m in great shape, so on visiting psychiatrics as being the only option left , they prescribed drugs for anti anxiety , anti depression , I used those but nothing worked so i stopped , and I knew the reason for my health challanges is something else , not till 2 years ago when i heared about sleep apnea, and studies proof that I ve sever one , starting using cpap , life went great again in ways I would not believe how good it was , my excellent memory / my body energy / all went back to normal . recently as I mentioned , cpap stopped to gives its benefits that's when I went to use some of those drugs offcourse based on drs recommendations , but again it's not working as ik for sure the answer lie in my sleep apnea considering , I did not experience God forbidden any trauma in my life , my life was great in work , social level , which says something that my symptoms were not related to mental issues
Do you have another condition that you were hoping would be explained by sleep apnea, and now realized it came back, despite your use of CPAP?
Absolutely nothing , rather than the mentioned of brain fog , loss of concentration , out of energy during the day , which in total giving my levels of anxiety and depression nowdays which again CPAP therapy helped me before to absolutely get rid of it like it never even existed .
I ve now my sleep apnea records and graph was wondering if I should post them on my profile or through sites like imur or Oscar? I do not ve access to my pc or laptop atm so was wondering wts the easiest allowed way to post it using phone?
Thank you .

I did really point by point once I registered , just that after going throught instructions on how to post / report/ open thread ....etc , instructions keeps changing and old one's
seems to mention that I can do screen shots and post through imur.com , also OSCAR works too , and bcz I m yet to have access to pc and use Oscar, so I generated a link via imur instead for now .
But if OSCAR is the way to upload and share reports , no worry I ll do that soon , just need confirmation that screen shots a report like I did is no longer an option ?

Sorry for such complications just need to get more familiar with the site and there are dozens of topics and instructions I m yet ve to go through .

It's not that screen shots are bad, just that we're used to reading Oscar so what you sent was fine, but harder to figure out as we've never seen that one.

You've uploaded youur sleep study to imgur - a very good and helpful; thing to do. Julie apparently didn't recognize it for what it is. The study shows your sleep is terrible, full of arousals, but that they are not caused by disrupted breathing.
Your sleep doctor was right when he said your sleep apnea was well controlled.

What you have basically said is that things were good once, then turned bad, then turned good again when you started using CPAP so you thought your only problem was sleep apnea, then things turned bad again despite the use of CPAP.
I would say your sleep study - which you uploaded - with all those arousals indicates severe insomnia, unrelated to breathing problems, has reappeared.

With your sleep as badly fragmented as that, it's no wonder you feel dreadful.

You have to discuss your insomnia with both the sleep doctor, and the psychiatrist who prescribed the drugs - maybe they should consult with each other. Something is messing up your sleep, but it's not breathing problems at this point. CPAP has stopped working because you have a problem CPAP is not capable of solving.

Your sleep doctor was right when he said your sleep apnea was well controlled.
So for example wt u just mentioned of sleep arosuals thank you for figuring that out , basically my sleep specialist did not bother to say anything about it , first time I hear about it is now , which is why I m seeking second opinion from another specialist but it ll take months in canada b4 I ll be able to see one , and there s no window for waiting , gotta do something b4 it gets worse .

I would say your sleep study - which you uploaded - with all those arousals indicates severe insomnia, unrelated to breathing problems, has reappeared.

I had sever sever insomnia before yes , but like for past 8 months till this momment , my sleep schadule turned so healthy , basically falling asleep so quick as soon as i see the pillow without sleep aid/ no drugs /nothing and with or without CPAP , which makes me even more confusing now bcz insomnia is gone and In-between periods of effective CPAP treatment and uneffective CPAP therapy that I m experiencing now , nothing in my life style changed , those drugs I mentioned ik for sure is not the answer , by body weight is perfect , I do not even drink lol , excersisng, no serious Pbs in my life that would explain this sleep arousals ; also I saw my physician multiple time and tests all came good as I mentioned b4 .

But why did almost all pbs disappear for months as soon as I started using CPAP then therapy effiectivness went down the hill recently ? Makes me thinking,CPAP was a major part of the solution If not the main , keeps thinking also that may be a central sleep apnea or mixed may ve developed or I might need to switch to another machine like BIPAP ? I do not know really only think that ik and can feel that it's all about the sleep apnea therapy if adjusted somehow it may end helping me significantly like it did before .
Thank you for taking such time to help and explain and I m for sure open for any suggestions.
