Is there a CPAP that has a delayed start

Post by Gup » Tue Apr 25, 2023 7:06 pm

I am trying to adjust to a CPAP and I have tried many different nose and mouth pieces and still working to find the right one. My issue is that I can simply not fall asleep with the machine on due to the actions of the machine. Is there a way to delay the actual start of the CPAP machine for say 30 minutes until I fall asleep?

Not that I'm aware of (tho' could be wrong), but what "actions" are you talking about - would love to help but need something to go on please. Describe in as much detail as possible, Thx.

welcome to the zoo!

which machine and mask do you have? not everyone has the same. when you get a moment, please fill out your equipment profile. that way your stuff will show up at the bottom of each of your posts, as mine does below.

as to a "delay" there is something called a "ramp" which starts out at the lowest pressure, then ramps up to whatever pressure you have set. need to know which machine so we can help you get it setup.

good luck!

My first week, I had a bad experience in it starting and ramping well before I fell asleep.. so I looked for a solution similar to this (though I do not need it anymore). My solution was to use an Alexa enabled smart plug and set it to turn on in x minutes based on when I give the command as I get into bed. I tried setting a schedule... but that did not work out as well as I didn't always go to bed at the same time each night.

My kids got a kick out of it when I would give the plug silly names and ask Alexa to ie- turn on the fart blaster in 30 minutes.

Now they get more enjoyment by asking me questions while it is running.. so I can sound like Drac from Enemy Mine with air shooting out my mouth.

There's a good chance that in a few months you will be able to speak more normally and not have the air shoot out your mouth and sound so weird.

I can now open my mouth wide and stick out my tongue and blow raspberries or even talk normally while wearing the mask with the machine on without any air entering my mouth much less trying to flow out my mouth. I am not the only one who can do this but it does take a bit of time to get to this point. No guarantees though...not everyone gets it.
