to dataQ: what you are saying is bullshit?
Lynn, Data is actually correct - so, NO BULLSHIT there. Straightforward answer to the question asked, nothing added would be "yes, sir you are correct".

We can speculate about why Wakemenot asked the question - my take on it is that he was asking for confirmation that hours that are not actually asleep should not be counted in AHI computation.

BTW, personal attacks and vendettas ("you should know better") amongst forum members may not serve to encourage Wakemenot to participate. He already warned " Don't yell at me about posting".

Take a DEEP breath!
Dude- you can’t take a sampling of data THAT YOU HAVENT SEEN and draw ANY MEANINGFUL CONCLUSIONS.

You just can’t. I “added” quite a bit and took more time than I should have to explain to someone who should know better.

Calling bullshit bullshit is not the same as calling someone a bullshitter which is a personal attack.

He’s been here LONG ENOUGH to know better.

That’s not yelling. That’s enunciating.

If and when Wakemenot returns and posts some data,as asked,a great deal more assistance can be given. But if he believes the offered pile of bullshit based on no data he is in fact being MISLED.

that said, I find it very annoying that people put it in their signatures that others should ignore so-and-so. To me that is targeted harassment. But it doesn’t take long to tease out when someone who has been in this board almost since the beginning is giving time wasting misleading advice.

It appears you haven’t been here long enough to see the distinction.

I hope that answers your question.

What you are not understanding is that the OP offered a hypothetical question. A question based not on his actual charts, but a "WHAT IF".

I agree with you that a one hour sample is insufficient to be representative of the OPs OSA, but that's not what the OP was asking. He was simply asking if the numbers calculated by the machine could be skewed because a substantial part of the data was was based on non-sleep time.

So really, do take a breath.

As far as personal attacks...... I (for one) would call your statement to data1 "you are still serving up shit" rather personal.

In my opinion, far, far too much attention has been given to answering a hypothetical question from the OP without actually addressing his real problem and his real concern.

Here's the part of the OP's opening post on this thread that, as far as I can tell, I'm the only one to address it:

Finally my question is as follows. I am having a real challenge even falling asleep with the CPAP going. But I am committed for the first time (several previous attempts). So I am literally wearing mask while reading in afternoon; lying in bed; etc…
Yes, the OP goes on to ask about how all that time using the machine while awake affects his AHI data.

But the real issue the OP is having is learning how to fall asleep with the CPAP mask.

All the bickering back and forth about how to best answer a hypothetical question and the childish name calling and trading of insults has likely convinced the OP that there's nothing to be learned from this board because we can't have a conversation amongst ourselves that does not result in name-calling.

Precisely the point I made a while back:
personal attacks and vendettas ("you should know better") amongst forum members may not serve to encourage Wakemenot to participate.
Perhaps when Wakemenot is satisfied that forum participants are more interested in answering the question that you/we think he should be asking .... "how to fall asleep with the CPAP mask?"... he'll be offering chart data and symptoms. Until then.....

The answer to that question is the numbers get skewed and are completely useless and unreliable. I said as much. Many have.

Some, like my child, learn at a young age that bad behavior does not necessarily make you a bad person.

Some people do stupid things even if they aren’t stupid.

And some folks, like you, don’t understand the difference.

Well this was exciting!

Just signed on for the first time in a while and lots of….err…discussion about my question!

First, sincerely, thank you for the energy you put into my question. I’m a poor hobbyist woodworker and on a couple of boards so I am (somewhat) used to this “constructive discussion.

And I apologize. I was under the mistaken impression that I would get email notification of any answers to my question— which I obviously do not which is why it has been so long since I have signed in.

Let me review the above info and weed through the back and forth and I’ll get back to you with any questions.
