Wedge pillow advice

Post by fmj13 » Tue Dec 27, 2022 6:08 am

Hi,

I am looking into buying a wedge pillow. I looked around and I am interested in the Avana contoured pillow partly because I am mostly a side sleeper.

However, the one issue is that my head pillow, a Technogel CPAP pillow, which has cutouts for my CPAP is 2" wider than the wedge pillow.

Do you think this is a major concern?

Well, that'd be an inch on either side. Notice how you use the CPAP pillow and decide whether that inch would make a difference. Pillows and such are so personal it's hard to make a general statement. Good luck!

Why do you want a wedge pillow? What benefit do you expect from a wedge pillow? Let's talk before you make a purchase.

I used a wedge pillow for about 6 weeks. I now use bed risers on the front of the bed to elevate it because it was easier. I bought them from amazon. They come in different heights and they are black rubber blocks with a slight depression on top where you put a your bed leg. It came with 4 and I just used 2. I am a side sleeper.

This is usually a better solution than a wedge pillow.

If the wedge pillow is too short, the body will bend at the stomach and could worsen reflux.

When side-sleeping, I'm not sure how a wedge pillow of proper length will cause the hips or legs to bend. This could be problematic.

And bed risers are simpler with nothing to store or launder.
