I’ve been curious for a long time as to why I have sleep apnea and no one else in my family or extended family has it . I’ve looked at lifestyle differences and come up with one habit that may have a bearing on why i have it. Now I maybe barking up the wrong tree here and some people who continue with certain habits may lob in some resistance here, but , I smoked cigarettes for 15 yrs and enjoyed weed for about as long.
That is the only thing I can identify that separates my lifestyle, diet and habits from others in my family .
Thoughts ?

My son and I both have sleep apnea, and both use machines, I'm sixty something and he's 40 something. Neither of us have ever smoked tobacco but I've smoked weed since my teens, my son has never smoked it. Go figure.

That kind of alleviates my concern about weed having contributed however I’m inclined to see substance in the previous comment about smoking causing fluid build up and/or inflammation in the soft palate and muscles in the throat. Of course genetics is probably in the mix.
