Hello folks. Does anyone here usually have interrupted sleep? I’m super sensitive to noises so it would be easy for me to wake up. I can barely feel that I have had a good night sleep for years. So when one tells me “good night”, sadly it would be meaningless. Please give me some advice on what to do. I very much appreciate your support.

Everyone here who uses an xPAP of some sort used to have interrupted sleep: As in we woke up for 15 seconds or so, usually dozens of times per hour, to open up our collapsed airway in order to end an apnea or hypopnea. Of course, we didn't remember all of those individual wakes/arousals, but they happened nonethesless.

After maximizing our xPAP therapy, many members report genuinely sound sleep all night long. Many others have the number of the nighttime wakes we remember drop, sometimes significantly. Me? I still wake up, usually after each full sleep cycle. But the wakes are short and I usually have no trouble getting back to sleep. I wake up in the morning feeling rested and even refreshed.

I can advise something that may help or solve a noise problem that prevents good sleep. Of late I have heard it called brown noise. It can be played from a device or be heard from a device that actually makes the noise. A box and will make brown noise. I have two that I rigged with filters to turn them into air purifiers. They run 24/7 and help me with my tinnitus. My bad sleep is due to many things other than sound.

There is also pink noise and white noise. Those used continuously may be also used to dampen intermittent noises.

I am have become very noise sensitive since I retired two years ago. I wear headphones that are like a soft headband over my mask and I listen to the Headspace app.
Sleepcasts and sleep music. I keep my iphone next to me and a few clicks to start something so I can drift off again.

Like you I have hyper-sensitive hearing and use these earplugs nightly. It works well even in my city environment.

My latest-downloaded sound app has brown noise, which I haven't seen before, but I agree it's a good frequency for tinnitus, which I also have. I use it in my daytime concentration sound mix.

The app is called Better Sleep, though it used to be called Relax Melodies and has a wide range of sounds you can overlay into custom mixes for any time of day.
