H & P SleepStyle 600 CPAP machine.

Post by SUZ » Fri Jan 26, 2007 12:29 pm

Does any one on this board use this machine? I have had mine about a month and if I remember right the hose felt slightly heated to the touch at first. Now it feels room temperature or the heated temperature that comes out of the hose. This has been such a confusing experience, finding right masks and machine. I have tried a new hose and it is the same. The read out on machine shows the lines that say its working. My provider says the hose with the coils are just to keep the humidity the same by the time it gets to the mask.

Anyway, should it feel slightly heated?? Should would appreciate any feed back.

I'm not familiar w/your equipment but I do know some manufacturers offer a heated hose. It sounds like this is what you have.

My understanding is that the heated hoses can reduce or eliminate "rain out" that many experience w/heated humidifiers. "Rain out" is condensation that results in water beads reaching the mask and your face.

The elemental and key question is: how are you doing w/your PAP equipment. Are you sleeping better, feeling more rested? Or worse? The proof is in the pudding, not always in the numbers.

Thanks for your input, I have had pretty good results with this machine, no rain-outs and its quiet. The hose is heated I just was concerned if it was working how it should as I said it feels like room temperature. Maybe that is all it is supposed to do. Keep the humidity in control. I live in Colorado and the air is dry so I have it turned up all the way.

You probably mean F&P (Fisher & Paykel) SleepStyle 600 machine.

I understand there are 2 models of this, the HC604 and the HC608. I believe the only difference between the 2 is that the 608 has automatic altitude adjustment whereas in the 604 such adjustment is manual.

I use the 604 and am happy with it. It is quiet and convenient to use and set. I like the fact that the CPAP, humidifier and heated hose is all included in one unit.

I use 1 or 1.5 setting in Summer time and 2.5 in Winter. With these settings the air coming through is not particularly warmer than the room temperature but there is no rainout.

David
