Like title said. I've had Cpap since maybe 2005???
My wife ratted me out about snoring to family doctor and that's how I got started.
Anyway, I've had three machines so far, the last two were/are ResMeds S9s. I got first S9 in 2011, and the second in 2015.
Still using both, which run all the time almost, I always doze off watching movies/TV so I've most all the time have one machine when I'm doing nothing.
So, I was thinking about having them both rebuilt by CPAP Repair (www.respshop.com). Is this a smart move?

But then someone told me Medicare and my Part F will pay for new machine???
I called my Sleep Center and they told me they fired me for not coming in the office, so I needed a new doctor's referral, which I'm getting done now.
Guess I'm going to have to spend the night with them again.

Question: I understand that Medicare and my Part F will also pay for my supplies?
I've just been buying my stuff myself all these years, like from "No Insurance Medical Supplies."
How can I get on an automated delivery list and have this stuff paid for by insurance?

If your "No Insurance Medical Supplies" place has a copy of your original sleep study (or you do) then I would just give them your insurance info. You may need a dr visit to document you are benefiting from cpap.

You need to ask your DME if they will accept Medicare and start sending your supplies to you. I was recommended Aeroflow by members here when I went on Medicare. They may require a new prescription, but when it's time for new supplies, they email me a list, and I check off what I need, and it comes in a couple of weeks.

They wouldn't take my five-year-old prescription. I may go to the sleep doc just to get a script so I can stock up before the end of the year. Do you know if they require a new prescription every year?

They are trying to screw the insurance company out of the cost of another sleep study. Check with your insurance company. Most likely, your previous sleep study is sufficient. Most insurance companies follow the Medicare policy.

If you had a CPAP machine before you got Medicare and you meet certain requirements, Medicare may cover a rental or replacement CPAP machine and/or CPAP accessories.

they said they'd send them to me to take to my new doctor.
We moved out into the country and no longer use Sentara, besides, I didn't have Medicare back then, we had employer insurance.

That's a good first step.

I've helped people here locally get a new machine from Medicare once they transitioned from employer health insurance. It was fairly easy. This was pre-pandemic. I don't know if things have changed in the meantime.

sounds like maybe you squeaked under the wire.

Records only have to be saved for seven years.

i think they do. I have been using them for about a year. Remember, these guys have their own prescription form. They faxed my primary care doctor the prescription, he signed it and faxed it back to them. So, I'm good for a year. They say Medicare requires a new prescription every year. Remember, ANY doctor can prescribe/sign the prescription. They are pretty good at notifying me via email bout' every three months to resupply.

If you are new, they'll send you their prescription sheet, you get your doctor to sign it, you ship it back to them, and you are good to go. It seems that all DME's are full of crap, but to me, these guys are less full of crap. I would try to get your primary doctor to sign your prescription. Less hassle.
