Interesting article .
But I don't have an ice machine. I just buy a huge jug of demineralized purified water from Costco and boil the water (sometimes).

Seems like an awful lot of effort for not much return.

I recently stumbled on another strategy. We have a Brita water pitcher. I used water from the Brita pitcher and did not have any residue in the bottom of the water tank -- compared to using tap water which resulted in a lot of residue. Of course, the residue can be easily cleaned by soaking the tub in a vinegar solution.

For some reason, my original post is not present, so I can't make the correction.Respirator99 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 24, 2022 2:18 amSeems like an awful lot of effort for not much return.

I really think that this is not worth the effort, at least not for US and Canadian consumers. I'm not sure about distilled water availability in the rest of the world, so this is a possible option.

Have been doing this for a number of years.
Think of the waste!the article wrote:I started with 8 cups of water in the large pot. After 1 hour, I had produced about 1 1/4 cup of distilled water.
