This article suggests making it yourself. I would not wish to bother doing this, given that distilled water is relatively inexpensive in the U.S.
Also, it would probably cost me more in cooking fuel than I would save.
If you live in a place where distilled water is unavailable or prohibitively expensive, you might want to try this.
Since anybody doing this would likely not be in the US, note that 180˚F = 82˚C, and 200˚F = 93˚C.

Parts of this I don’t like is the waste of electricity. If not for boiling process then for ice production.D.H. wrote: ↑Sun Oct 23, 2022 8:41 pmThis article suggests making it yourself. I would not wish to bother doing this, given that distilled water is relatively inexpensive in the U.S.

This might work with our pellet stove but the mess of handling the water on the lid plus the wood floors would make it not necessarily worth it.
I do wish I had proper glassware to set this up on the stove but it’s not particularly neat either way.
thanks

[quotee=CNET Articl]Again, I was able to make about 1 1/4 cup of distilled water from 8 cups of tap water in about an hour. [/quote]
Let alone the relatively huge amount of water wasted - and I'm not talking about its price.
I live where the water is very hard, use a filter for the water I drink, for my coffee machine, kettle, any cooking - and for some years now, have been using it in my APAP as well. That was after years of buying distilled water. It works just as well as the distilled.

And now here is my secret, a very simple secret; it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.
