There is something wrong with your ETCO2 probe--I don't think this is that common; certainly doesn't happen that often in the OR
It happens very frequently during NPSG, as the moisture-extraction media often gets saturated and/or clogged.
Freeze this moment a little bit longer.
Make each sensation a little bit stronger.

AFAIK, when you zoom in as much as possible, flat tops signify mouth leaks and spiky tops signify mask leaks.
As far as I knw, it's the opposite - saw tooth is mouth leak. Constant, flat, is mask leak.
IDK if either rule can be made, but if we're discussing the above waveform, there were no leaks.
I wasn't discussing the above waveform.

I was thinking of the text about figure 7 in the following article: Practical Aspects of Interface Application in CPAP Treatment

ETCO2 sensors don't have moisture extraction media. The probe works using infrared technology like an SpO2 sensor. https://www.cablesandsensors.com/pages/ ... centration.

Where in the sleep study is moisture extraction taking place? The only moisture modification I know of is on a CPAP where it's humidification, i.e., augmentation. Can you point us to a reference where you get this information?

Can you repost/paste the waveform you are referring to that has no leaks?

The link you posted is for in-line monitoring on ventilators. I have used those extensively.

The Mallinckrodt and Nellcor ETCO2 monitors (which I have used hundreds (thousands?) of times) need moisture removal media.

@"The Tired Vet": In case you misunderstood: I'm pretty sure Rubicon is referring to what he posted on page 6 of this thread. Look for it.
He also mentioned the possibility that you're suffering from athletic overtraining.

Rubicon, who changes his names every 1000 or so posts is an experienced, knowledgeable Polysomnographist.
And maybe my memory is totally wrong, but I have a vague memory from way back when (14 or so years ago?) that he too ran marathons. Very vague - I could be totally wrong about that.

Nope! Spot on!

Qualified and ran Boston! Twice!

Where did the years go? We should get a reunion! ASAA, TAS, everybody who's still around!

Would you believe it if I told that even "Boston" floated into my memory after I pressed send?

Thanks!
I first "met" (read) RG on TAS. But CT is where I stayed. Don't think I ever posted in TAS...

Seems like you do better when you DO have mask leaks!

I would try to cut the pressure DOWN, and see how that works for you. Find out how low............you can go...........
That's an intriguing idea.
But, not normally a good one
