Not feeling better with APAP
Not feeling better with APAP
I have been using an air sense 10 auto set with a Phillips dreamwear nasal cushion for two weeks. I have reviewed the Oscar data and my sleep seems to be good; very few events per hour and a good seal. I’ll attach the results. However I don’t feel better yet, I’ve tried different pressures but nothing has worked, despite the data looking good. I still don’t feel like I’m getting good sleep. I am treating suspected UARS but without a definitive diagnosis. I am considering purchasing nasal dilators. Another issue I have is only being able to breathe through 1 nostril at a time, not sure if this is unrelated or not.

1) no results attached...
2) post Oscar results here so all can see and comment on them.

Re: Not feeling better with APAP
There are other things besides sleep apnea that can make you feel crappy. Have a physical with your doctor.

ahoy!
looks like the charts didn't post. the forum software is having a problem with attachments.
could you go an image hosting site like imgur.com (it's free), post charts there and link them here?
let us know if you need any help doing this.
good luck!

Re: Not feeling better with APAP
Settle on a pressure that give you good AHI, a smoother flow, and the lowest flow limitations -- and stick to it for another two week.I’ve tried different pressures but nothing has worked, despite the data looking good. I still don’t feel like I’m getting good sleep.
By changing pressures frequently, you're not letting yourself get used to this new way of sleeping.
That's normal, but you could try nasal rinsing too: https://www.fda.gov/consumers/consumer- ... -pots-safeAnother issue I have is only being able to breathe through 1 nostril at a time, not sure if this is unrelated or not.

And now here is my secret, a very simple secret; it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.

Re: Not feeling better with APAP
Not surprising. You've only been at it for two weeks, we can't see any of your reports, you haven't declared what your settings are and most APAP pressure ranges (if that's what you're using) are ineffective in the beginning......until the proper settings are dialed in and established.....and it may take several months to finally feel the benefits. For some people, the pressure changes can disrupt sleep.Louis10 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 2:56 amI have been using an air sense 10 auto set with a Phillips dreamwear nasal cushion for two weeks. Re: Not feeling better with APAP
As Den said in the post above, give it time. A very few lucky folks report immediate improvement. The other 98% of us find that it takes time and patience. Your body needs time to adjust. So forge ahead, steady the course, don't make frequent pressure changes willy-nilly, and pe patient and persistent. Our society may be geared toward instant gratification, but CPAP doesn't work that way for the vast majority of users.
