Wake up middle night itchy face AirTouchF20
Just changed over to the full mask about a month ago. All is fine, cept, I wake up in the middle of the night a number of times with an ITCH on my face/nose that I just HAVE to scratch!
Fortunately I have figured out that I can disconnect the hose, and reach my finger into the mask to scratch it.........anyone else have this issue? Maybe a fix?
Thanks

Trim your nose hair... the air blowing around in the mask tickles it and your brain said "SCRATCH! THERE'S A BUG!"nightnight wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2019 12:38 pmJust changed over to the full mask about a month ago. Funny thing though, it never itches "IN" the nostrils... something about the way the nerves are connected, I guess.

So, here I am............. looking back at my post from 3 yr ago...............
That "itch" that I was speaking of................ I knew I had posted something..
I believe now, that it was the "Philips foam" pieces floating around in the face mask. Yup, I do think so. I have a replacement machine now, and no more of those itches!!!!
I'll speak to my doctor on the next visit to see if I need to do anything to make sure I am OK.

If you are using a humidifier, any tiny pieces of foam would have ended up in the water.nightnight wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 5:25 pmSo, here I am............. looking back at my post from 3 yr ago...............

Usually, it's the air blowing around nose hair, but if you haven't also changed your mask, or trimmed, maybe the itch was just psychosomatic.nightnight wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 5:25 pmSo, here I am............. looking back at my post from 3 yr ago...............

Re: Wake up middle night itchy face AirTouchF20
I used to use a f20 air fit (silicone), used to get itches near the nose, like OP, used to disconnect the hose and push a finger through the breathing hole in the frame to scratch!.
Then, on one occasion, I broke one of the thin flange claspy things on the frame ----that hold the elbow to the frame. Beware of this technique! But of course YMMV.
I am now using a F20 touch (foam), found it easy to push a finger under the foam---(I don't think it would work as easily with the silicone) ----but I think this practice is not good for the foam's durability.
Now I flip off one of the clips, raise the bottom corner of the mask, scratch and then re-attach the magnetic clip. Surprisingly, when I re-attach the clip, the seal is immediately restored. I am guessing this re-sealing attribute is because of the foam. YMMV.

Re: Wake up middle night itchy face AirTouchF20
Well, it seems I am doing well these days. Yes, I did have 'stuff' in the humidifier, but I just thought it was from the tap water...........ok, so yes, I sometimes was lazy and did not want to trot downstairs to get another jug!
At my age, I can't see as well, so, I just figured it was the water.......... I now bet it was bits of foam. I do not get that itch, or, better said.... I don't feel that there is anything blowing around in the full face mask.
The big learn for me was that you cannot depend on the doctors to be looking at your data every week..... not happening. WE all need to do the work ourselves.
