Anyone making their own straps?

I have a few masks with very basic velcro. The Swift FX and my Airfit come to mind. Anyone else have luck makkng their own velcro straps from a hobby store? Please advise on how that works. I would guess basic elastic band with velcro on the end would work. I tend to gravitate toward nasal pillow masks that are very durable, and wno't need to be replaced as frequently. Any best practices appreciated.

My mask's headgear is pretty inexpensive. Much simpler than making.
