Best sleep ever, I've worn out my machine
Best sleep ever, I've worn out my machine
I've been on a resmed S9 for the past...5 years(?) I'm not sure how long I've had this machine. Except I noticed that it is telling me "motor life exceeded"
I've liked this model. I originally used the humidifier, but found it didn't do boop. So i removed it. Even turned up full, I'd get no humidity. My nose is really dry and sometimes I have to get up in the middle of the night and swab my nose with some cold water.
Given that I like this machine and it seems to be no longer available, those of you using the S10, do you like it? Anyone else that liked the S9 and and moved on to another machine that they liked? hated? indifferent? Remed or a Phillips?
Thanks

As PR would say, there is no S10. It's an AS10.
I used an S9 for years, and then switched to AS10. Both machines work fine. Keep your S9 for a backup. It may have years of life left in it.
I assume you are talking about AutoSets. The only way to go.
Re: Best sleep ever, I've worn out my machine
My AS10 has been working flawless for 3 years, I love it

Did you ever check the water level upon arising as compared to the water level at bedtime? If the levels were roughly the same, there was something wrong with the heating element.
Re: Best sleep ever, I've worn out my machine
I never used the S9, I was on a PRS1 for 6 years, and when I got the new ResMed Autoset 10, I was worried the transition would be difficult. It was NOT. IMHO, this machine has a very "smooth" algorithm, it works great at managing my apnea, and it is very comfortable and quiet. I like the onboard data, the fact that the on/off light turns OFF when you turn the machine on, and there's no annoying beep when you turn it on (whomever thought those were good ideas on the PRS1 should have their head examined). I think you will be fine with this machine.
The PRS1 had a known manufacturer's defect with the humidifier, so I stopped using it since it wasn't working at least the last 3 years I had it. I don't use the humidifier on the ResMed either because I'm not used to it and I'm lazy about cleaning and refilling. I do have issues with dry nasal passages at times, and the few times I have used the humidifier with this machine, it did noticeably use up water so it was definitely working. I also got spectacular rainout when I turned it up too high one time.

Re: Best sleep ever, I've worn out my machine
Thanks Granny I stand corrected. what changed, that the "A" is called for, (not being snippy)? just curious. You mention "Autoset". Is this something on the S9 has and I never noticed? Or is it something new? Once I acclimated to using the machine, I never gave it another thought. I clean the filter and replace the replaceables (or wash them) and feel lucky I barely notice the thing is on my face.

Good call. I haven't used it for a while. I may check it again.ChicagoGranny wrote: ↑Sun Jul 10, 2022 4:46 pmDid you ever check the water level upon arising as compared to the water level at bedtime? If the levels were roughly the same, there was something wrong with the heating element.

The S9, AS10 and now the AS11 have more than one model.
The CPAP, Elite and AutoSet. There are more but were nt getting into that.
The CPAP model is a brick, no data. It's awful.
The Elite is fixed pressure, avoid it.
The AutoSet is the machine to get.

That makes it easy. Despite the fact I don't check my data, having it available, is generally better. Thanks for that triage And thanks to the rest of you for chiming in and telling me your views. I appreciate it and (if I can find one) will go with the AS10!Dog Slobber wrote: ↑Sun Jul 10, 2022 6:56 pmThe S9, AS10 and now the AS11 have more than one model.

Re: Best sleep ever, I've worn out my machine
I think the AS in the AS10 and AS11 stands for AirSense,
AirSense™ 10 AutoSet™
APAP machine
Theres an AirSense 10 Elite which is not an APAP.
So make sure you have AutoSet or APAP in the name. AirSense is not enough.

Re: Best sleep ever, I've worn out my machine
Boy oh boy it's tough out there. I called 3-4 places that didn't have machines and had waiting lists. I finally went to Secondwind. I found a gently used AS10 Autoset. My ins will cover 70%.
I hope I made the right move. They said the machine has less than 61 hours on it, which is basically new.
