The Tank

Post by GoofyUT » Tue Jan 09, 2007 7:45 pm

[quote="DreamStalker"]Yep ... likewise. A coupe of months ago I was debating whether to get the "tank" or the newer "M"agic. I concluded that the "tank" was more reliable based on problems that "M"agic was having at the time with HH and data losses. I figured the bugs had not been completely worked out yet ... you know like when Windows puts out a new OS or Ford comes out with a new car model.

I got a tank fearing that they might be discontinued ... been using it for about a month now. I now use my S8 Vantage as travel/backup and may go back and forth between the two for experimental reasons over the next year or two. If Jim endorses it ... it's gotta be good!

Thank you so much, ALL of you! I so appreciate the pros and cons of your choices.

And I especially appreciate the HUMOR. (By the way, I drive a 96 Olds Cierra wagon and my hubby drives a 96 Chevy truck). I have a 96 only because some idiot totalled out my '93 Cierra on the xway figuring he had an innate right to make a right hand exit from the 4th lane in. He managed to escape unscathed, 3 others besides myself weren't so lucky other than by some miracle no serious injuries.

I've read of the algorhythm response between the Resmed and Respironics autos before. I don't know that I have the option to try a Resmed auto - besides which, no way would I pay outta pocket for a Resmed given their new pricing policy. Another reason I'd like to keep my Elite. I like it.

You guys have all given me so much good food for thought .... thank you!Anything further anyone wants to offer is welcome.

Can anyone confirm if the algorythms between the M and tank are different?

I think they are, but there may or may not not be much substance to the differences. I just purchased a bipap auto M series, with a manufacturing date code of 11-07-06, and it shares the same algorithm as the Auto M Series. The Version number of the firmware is 3.08. These firmware changes are issued to either fix bugs introduced in prior versions or also to fine tune and enhance prior versions of the algorithm, some of which could potentially enhance treatment outcomes. Someone needs to post the firmware version of their recently purchased tank model.

I drive a 95 Ford F250 P/U "She Who must be obeyed drives a 92 DodgeB-150 Van We also have a E450 so I drive and prefeer Ford Products.
Bottom line You buy what you like I have a Remstar pro 2 I love it. I was going to buy a Remstar M but I like the old instead of the new it's got a proven track record.

No matter which cpap machine you purchase they have a 2 year warranty. If they are a resporonics unit. I don't know about the other brands.
