FlexiFit HC431 Full Face Mask

Post by snorestats » Fri Jan 12, 2007 10:28 am

The FlexiFit HC431 Full Face Mask was my first mask and had a bit of trouble with it in the beginning (leaks and nose bridge irritation). But now, I have this thing ROCKING. No leaks, no irritation, and this think is ABSOLUTELY Quiet.

I simply wipe the mask with down every day with BZK (Benzalkonium) Antiseptic Towelettes every day (to get rid of the face oils) and it does the trick.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this much success with it.

Now I have a new Hybrid that I'm testing, as I like the idea of direct pressure to the nose. Unfortuantely it leaks like crazy. The company is sending me a new headgear which I hope will resolve this issue.

Funny thing, I was using my flexfit headgear on my Hybrid. It worked great.
Now I have the new Hybrid headgear and this is my dream mask. You'll love what they've done with this headgear.

Yes. First and only mask I've had. Once you adjust it acceptably, it's awesome. No leaks ever (regardless of any movements I make), no irritation, no noise... sometimes when I wake up, I'm not even sure I'm wearing it until I reach up and feel it on my face. It's that good.

So, they subsequently came out with the HC432 which (I thought) was supposed to be an improvement.

Has anyone tried both that can comment on the differences (which I already think I know) and preferences?

I used the Ultra Mirage FFM for about a year. Tried the Comfort Full once (hated it) and then got a 431. Definitely the best FFM I have ever used. I used 431s for about 2 years before deciding to give nasal masks a go. I had very few leak issues and no discomfort issues. If I had anything negative to say it would about the headgear. Its not a little bit stiff/hard and the velcro seems to wear out prematurely. Otherwise, its a great mask.

I love my 431A ! It is very comfortable and easy to clean. I don't disassemble all the parts just the cushion from the mask and wash in warm soapy water a few times a week.

Someone mentioned elsewhere in the forum that when he used the 431 his AHI doubled! Has anyone found that to be true for them? How has the 431 helped to lower your AHI and give you a good nights rest?

For some reason I am waking up 5-6 times a night and I don't have the encore software so I use the DME's card every once in ahwile for 15 days to track the therapy. Seems like I still have episodes of apnea even at my prescribe pressure. Go figure.

Anyway, I love my 431A full face mask!

Jeff

I just got the Flexifit HC431 FF mask a few days ago. I tried both the small and medium inserts and can't get it to stay sealed when I hit my pressure. The large was way too big so out of the question. It starts off fine while I'm in ramp (5 mins.). Then one side goes, a few seconds later another side goes and next thing you know, it sounds like I'm in a snake pit with all the hissing going on! I really, really want to make it work but need help! Are there any magic "fix-its" out there (RG????) that I should know about or any other thoughts? My face is washed every night before bed and I stopped applying face lotion to help seal..maybe Krazy Glue?? *sigh* I'm so damn tired I can't stand myself...lol...help!

Flexfit 431

Post by OSAGuy » Sat Jan 20, 2007 9:48 am

I have been using the flexfit 431 for about a year. Am currently looking for a different mask to use. The flexfit 431 is a great mask and I have good results with it. However, be prepared to replace the silicone seal monthly as the sides break down causing leaks. The replacement seals are about $48 - Gets a little e4xpensive replacing them monthly.

Bookwrm,

I had a problem with my 431 leaking in the chin area. As I relaxed, my chin would actually slide out of the "chin cup". I got a 3/4" wide strip of velcro and ran it under the chin portion of the mask frame and routed it through the glider straps on each side of the mask. I then fasten the velcro behind my head. This solved the chin leak issue for me, but I have to be fairly precise with tightening the velcro. If I get it too tight, it makes the mask dig into my face and be very uncomfortable. Hope this is helpful.

Brian

Thanks for the replies. I will try the velcro "fix" and hope that helps. As for the silicone replacements, hopefully they will hold out for me a bit longer than 1 month. I think I can replace those things every 3 months.. if I last that long!

I wash my silicone cushions and the mask every 3 days in warm soapy water (Using Ivory unsented liquid soap) and have been able to use the same cushion for more than 3 months!

I have replacement cushions sent every 3 months, but so far have held those in reserve until needed. Mayby I am just the lucky one?

Jeff,
Glad to hear your cushions last longer. I wash mine with Johnson's Baby Shampoo and warm water daily but very gently. I will just cross my fingers!
