An alternative to OSCAR is on the horizon. CPAP Youtuber, Nicko from
CPAP Reviews appears to be releasing it with a partner.

- SleepHQ.jpg (306.64 KiB) Viewed 7898 times
Nicko has been dropping SleepHQ video's on his CPAP Review channel. Including:
* CPAP Reviews is now offering the ability to Join the channel at $2.99 US / month. For a while this video was behind it's paywall. Perhaps this is how CPAP Reviews will be monetizing SleepHQ?
Some observations from the videos and comments:
- Web Based - One needs to create an account and upload the SD Card data
- Future Mobile app hinted at???
- Account owners can *invite* other account owners to view data
- Currently in limited Beta Testing
- Web App has graphs and traces, not unlike what OSCAR
- Examples currently only show ResMed support
- CPAP Reviews claims it will be releasing tutorial in anticipation of SleepHQ release
- Claims of unresponsive app. Attributed to beta testing bugs, or server load.
- Claims of CPAP manufacturers reaching out to provide API access for direct access to cloud data.
- Comment from one poster about Beta Access invite upon joining the YouTube channel

Without seeing it....my thoughts go back to a web based alternative to Encore Pro that was tried for a while.... before Mark came up with a working SleepyHead.
The name of it is on the tip of my tongue but gosh...maybe 10 years ago and it may not get off the tip of my tongue.
Whatever it was....Respironics only though.
Web based back then....huge PITA and very problematic but also back then the data collected was limited as well.
Generally hated by almost everyone.
If I have time later/tomorrow I might watch the videos but I can't get it done right now. Maybe tomorrow after hubby goes to work.
If it goes behind a pay wall though....not interested in it at all....at least for myself.
I don't do videos much at all....my IP sucks unless I want to watch stuff at 3 in the morning.
I may have to RISE but I refuse to SHINE.

I've been following this on Nicko's Facebook page. He's pitching it as more accessible than Oscar and more comprehensive than MyAir. There are a LOT of people out there who find Oscar too complicated for them and are looking for something simpler - typically people who turn to Facebook rather than a proper forum. I think this is the market Nicko's looking at.
Regarding the paywall, Nicko has stated that it is free software. There may be a membership scheme in future where people can get "perks", but what these perks might be, we don't know at this time.

I've just been having a play with the beta version. It gives about 75% of the information that Oscar reports and is reasonably user friendly. I think if I was a complete newbie I would be more comfortable with SleepHQ than Oscar, but as an experienced user this won't tempt me away from Oscar.
The good
- It's pretty easy to use for a newcomer.
- It's web-based, making it available from any device with a browser (eg I'm using an old iPhone 6S and it works perfectly).
- It gives you a useful data summary, a bit like MyAir but without the sleep score and constant emails and push notices. It gives the 95% , not a score out of 20 (or whatever).
- Most of the other graphs (flow rate, pressure, resp rate etc etc) are there.
- You can easily create a link to share with other people - eg if you want a second opinion.
- There are a few instructional videos on YouTube.
- The app is free - though I suspect the authors will have to monetize it somehow in the future.
The bad
- It's web based, raising the usual questions about data security.
- My initial data upload and import(~500Mb) was extremely slow. Apparently the system is smart enough to only select and upload incremental changes (ie new data) in subsequent uploads.
- The charts and graphs are a bit more rudimentary than Oscar, but adequate for the purpose.
- There is only limited configurability - eg I don't see any way to change the vertical scale in the graphs.
- Some Oscar features are missing, such as the statistics page and the left pane on the data page.
- Apart from the YouTube videos there is no help facility - this will probably come in future.
- The only supported machines at present are Resmed Airsense / Aircurve 10 and 11. However Nicko has hinted that he's working with some of the Chinese manufacturers to get support for their machines.
If you're already using Oscar then the only benefits of SleepHQ are the ability to run it on phones and tablets, and the ability to allow others to view your data. If you don't have Oscar or a bit of a technophobe then this is an easier way to get most of the benefits of Oscar. Personally I will stick with Oscar, but I don't think SleepHQ should be written off.

G'day legend. Thanks for the great post. It's pretty accurate apart from the paywall stuff. It's currently free and there will always be a great free version but yes at some point we are going to have cover the incremental costs with holding so much data and the increase server /database demands. We're not trying to 'compete' with OSCAR as ours is web based and theirs is software so it's really apples and oranges. I will say this however. SLEEPYHEAD / OSCAR has had many updates / versions / improvements over the 8+ years. We're 2 months in and only in BETA. Give me 12 months and this thing will blow you away. Cheers

Quick impression from the video only:
One thing I really liked was the ability to display daily changing values (comparing current day with prior days results). Nice feature.
The smoothed AHI over days is nice, Oscar's AHI over days is really busy.
Nicko's demonstration (for this particular patient) of how increased pressure resulted in a increase of centrals, was really clear.
Good job

SleepHQ is now live and accepting members.
sleephq.com
Initial impression:
Kludgy, slow and full of bugs
Uploading data is tedious. It seems hit and miss. Some dates within my uploaded data range simply won't display telling me, "Sorry, there's no data for today"
One handy feature is the ability to share links for other to comment.
For example here's my data for March 1'st
https://sleephq.com/public/7af2b923-0c1 ... e89717420d
The link will remain live for 7 days, anyone with the URL can view it.
It's got a long way to go.

Try clearing the cache on your browser. Also, make sure it says the import completed successfully. I agree importing is a pain.

I would love this if SleepHQ could download data from the AS10/11 via the cell modem.

I doubt that ResMeds, or any device will support that kind of functionality.

Yeah, unlikely that the big players will assist in any way. However Nicko has stated that some of the Chinese manufacturers (BMC, ResVent iBreeze) have given access to their API and it may be possible for those machines to upload directly. Apparently he's also in talks with Fisher & Paykel.
SleepHQ has a way to go to catch up with the functionality of Oscar, but I think we will see a considerable improvement over the next few months. A lot of people seem to be intimidated by Oscar and perceive SleepHQ as being more user friendly. I don't think it is, but it
looks friendly, whereas Oscar looks complicated and technical.

We've developed a way to transmit the SD Card via wifi that will work with any CPAP device. (And it doesn't involve a wifi sd card). We don't need API permission anymore. Stay tuned

This "announcement" really is meaningless without detail, basically click-bait.
Transmit from where to where?
CPAP to computer?
CPAP to WebHQ?
Mobile device (with SD card reader) to WebHQ?
Mobile device (with SD Card reader) to computer?

If wishes were horses . . .
We should wait, however long it takes.
Since hardware is necessary for that sort of connection,
there may be a purchase required.
