Teeth Hurting After CPAP

Post by CChamp » Wed Mar 16, 2022 10:41 am

Hi all, I am new to this forum and very new to the world of CPAP. I have had my ResMed AirSense 11 for 2 nights now and both mornings when I woke up my front teeth were hurting. I am not sure what is causing it but I am sure that it is not a good thing. Also, it seems that on exhaling the air is being blown out the side of my mask quite a bit. I have tried lowering pressure and tightening the mask but it doesn't seem to help. Lastly, if you don't mind could someone look over my last night's Oscar report and tell me what you think? It is all gibberish to me. Thank you all very much.

To be honest with that much leak going on the report itself is questionable as to how well you are doing otherwise.
The leak itself is of such a magnitude that it could possibly be missing apnea events. So that low AHI is questionable.

I wonder if you have the right size cushion for the F30 mask??? Have you actually measured to see if the size you are using is the right size.

Also...do you happen to have facial hair?

Watch mask fitting videos.
Tighter is not always better.

Thank you all for the help, the first night I had the mask not as tight and the leaks were really bad. The second night I tightened it just a little which to me seemed to work but not according to the report. I do not have facial hair and the Supply Nurse where I got the setup did put some kind of measuring tool up to my face and said that I needed a medium mask. She is not in the office the rest of this week so I can't get a hold of her. Thanks again

Carefully watch some videos on fitting and adjusting your mask - https://www.youtube.com/results?search_ ... +face+mask

Fitting a full face mask does come with some extra challenges because there is just so much more real estate to get sealed with the skin.

There are numerous fitting videos out there so about all I can offer is keep watching them.

I am sorry but I really have zero experience with full face masks since I don't use them.

Maybe this mask simply isn't going to work well with your facial features. Sure wouldn't be the first to have that problem.

Do you have lots of chronic nasal congestion issues going on that caused you to get a full face mask to start with?

Be careful about people sending you advice privately. This sometimes happens when a member is giving bad advice and doesn't want to be corrected by more knowledgeable members. Of course, the nice thing about advice given openly is that it can be reviewed by numerous members for validity. It's a type of peer-review process.

Many of us have found that a mask liner (ex: padacheek.com) helps.

You may have to try another mask. I found my front teeth to be pressured uncomfortably by a Wisp mask. I switched to the resmed N30i nasal mask and that helped a lot. I am fortunate that I seem to not have issues with mouth breathing. It is a bit of a crapshoot to find a good fit. Keep at it though, once you find a good fit, it really helps.
