Wake of with Sinus HEadaache every morning

Post by Bronkhorst » Mon Feb 28, 2022 9:58 am

Despite having a humidifier in the bedroom and the humidifier on my CPAP working, I wake up each morning with what feels like a sinus headache, painful sinuses and what is best described as "hollow head". I can't find out why. Am wondering if anyone has the same experience and any advice. Am wondering whether the CPAP is set correctly and would like to check this out. Anyone know how to get into the clinical settings on a Resmed Elite? Thanks in advance

I have the same feeling quite often, and also use a humidifier. Sinus pressure around the nose and eyes but none (or very little) of the discharge that would typically be accompanied with sinus problems. It’s quite odd. Fortunately it seems to taper off as the day wears on.

Exactly the same problem that I have had for years,
Its very unpredictable so it makes it difficult to plan ahead as i dont know how I will feel from day to day.
I thought I had beaten it with a setting change but its still bad this morning

I had that problem when I started CPAP. I eventually figured out that I had too much humidification. Once I turned off heated humidification and left it on pass over, my morning sinus headaches stopped. YMMV.

You all talk about having lots of humidity and then wonder why you get sinus headaches. Have you tried lowering the humidity or even turning it off to see if that helps?

Lonestar has a good point!

With me its entirely the 95% pressure that the machine runs at.
16.8 means a sore head whilst 14.9 means I feel good.
The problem is trying to find out why the pressure varies from night to night

That 95% is meant to be seen as UP to 95, not a fixed #.

In my case the pressure can stay at the maximum set for over 4 hours so thats hardly up to

Yes, but it still needs to be read as a 'slope' and not a jump to 95... what you see on the way matters.

I consider a change in pressure from 10cm to 20cm in about 5 mins or less a jump

im wondering if using the humidifier is causing the problem so will try it tonight without it .I have some Xylimelts if my mouth gets too dry.
BUT
I tried it this afternoon, for a hour or so, without the humidifier and it has left me with a sore tongue. OUCH!!!
So will try tonight with the humidifier but with a lower setting
