Low Power CPAP machines...
Low Power CPAP machines...
Hi,
20 year user of CPAP. It's a life saver!
Planning on some short camping trips this year.
My Puritan Bennett GoodKnight 420 machine was ideal for camping. I used a large battery box for power, and typically got 2 nites of usage before the box needed recharging.
My understanding is that Puritan Bennett is out of this business, and my Puritan Bennett machine died.
Can some recommend a similar machine that draws low power? I do not need humidification for camping.
I have a Resmed machine at home. It draws a lot of power due to the built in Humidification. I haven't been able to figure out how to disable the humidification function.
Thanks,
Rog

Re: Low Power CPAP machines...
If you can tell us exactly which ResMed machine you are using we can tell you how to disable the humidification.
You would need to add a special converter to use it with a 12 V battery though....cost approx $85 depending on the model.

Resmed Airsense 10. It's about 5 years old.
Re: Low Power CPAP machines...
All you need to do to turn off humidification with the AirSense machine is set it to "0".
That will turn off any heating feature that would be warming up the plate under the water chamber.
You can use it a "0" with or without water in the chamber.
That and a non heated hose will mean no added power draw beyond just what is needed to power the machine to blow air.
Here's the clinical manual for the AirSense 10 models and it explains the options.

Thanks Bugsy!
I will use the manual to tweak my machine for lowest power usage.
I will report back.
Thanks again!

Re: Low Power CPAP machines...
I'm wondering the same thing. Has anyone done any testing or know which machines are the most efficient with power usage? I've been using my Philips System One for camping for several years. I've been eyeing up the HDM Z2 but not sure if it's any better other than being smaller.
