Airsense 10 power cord port

Post by Brianc67 » Fri Feb 11, 2022 11:26 pm

I’m having great difficulty getting my AS10 power to be consistent. I have tried a new power cord. I noticed that the rubber seal inside hole where plug goes has eroded due to a lot of moving free m my truck to my house. (Truck driver) I’m home every week and I think the constant plug in and un plug has messed my power port up a bit. Is there a way I can get some of that cushiness back in power port. Is that why my connection is extremely touchy. It’s almost like I have to finesse the plug in now. Help me

I don't believe the rubber part is causing your problem. The contacts inside the socket are like springs. I think they are worn out. Maybe they can be bent so the connection is tighter. I have never tried that. But I did find disassembly instructions: http://www.apneaboard.com/forums/Thread ... em-Removal

How about purchasing a used second machine. Keep one in the truck and one at home. No more plugging and unplugging.

I too have experienced what the Op is referring to, or have started to notice deformation of the rubber boot that helps hold the cord in place.

For a while, before the CCP Virus 🦠 outbreak, I was traveling a lot & my CPAP power cord was getting a lot of in & out action.

To this day, it’s deformed but luckily still holding up.

Repeated plug and unplug cycles need not cause that much damage.
Do you have anger issues?

Is that a question asked in all seriousness - I missed the sarcasm.

If I was to logically guess why the rubber has been bent up like it is shown (without anger issues - :P ) I would have to surmise that when one is constantly on the road, going from hotel to hotel, there is multiple plugging in and unplugging of the power cord.

Just the constant unpacking of the CPAP machine and the various accessories to set it up on a hotel nightstand is not a 15 second operation.
First, one has to find a nearby electrical outlet (sometimes this is easy, sometimes its not - thus why I travel with a 10-foot extension cord in my CPAP case.
After I have power situated, I place the CPAP (without the water tank) on the night stand and plug it in. Most often, I'm in front of the CPAP and just reaching around the back of the CPAP and plugging it in. Now do I do this in a careful manner each and every time, No.
Again, I'm often just reaching around the back of the machine, looking down at where the power cord needs to go into the back of the CPAP and just plugging it in.
Now, if I'm staying for a week - then the machine is only unpacked and packed once that week. Yes, during that same week, I'll be plugging and unplugging my laptop in all day long - maybe 20 times during that week - yet I don't seem to have the same issues with my laptop plugs and they're essentially the same (albeit a bit smaller).

I'm sure that ResMed did not design the power outlet rubber surrounding the power cord for multiple plugging and unplugging cycles. The rubber is probably just there to ensure the cord stays in, as the CPAP itself is subject to minute vibrations in the running motor and the constant jostling of the CPAP as someone is refilling the water tank on a daily basis. Again, the power cord is generally larger than most laptop cords I've experienced. The extra weight of the cord itself could be the reason for the heavy rubber surrounding.

I'm not an expert but these are my opinions as a layman and user of multiple devices with power bricks and cords.

Anger...Nah I'm a cool cat!

@Brianc67

Are you coming back to update us?

Lately there seems to be a lot of one-hit wonder posts and the users don't follow up.
