the apap machine you have doesnt do c flex in apap mode is that correct? Do you find you need that? I know that for $5 more there is the m series auto by resporonics that will do it. I was seriously thinking of going with that one.
Actually it does have cflex in auto mode. The only things it does not have that M series has is:
1) The ability to use ramp in auto mode. (I have found with C-Flex, I don't need ramp at all.)
2) You can get some basic data from the LED screen, without the need for software. But if money isn't an obstacle, you will want to buy the software anyway to track your progress and better tweak your therapy.

I just had one study. They woke me up half way through and put me on a cpap machine for the rest of the night. The tech showed me the difference off and on the machine. I'm still trying to get the machine but I only had to do one study.

Hi JackR
I am curious about your having two sleep studies too.
I had a split night with 1/2 breathing without CPAP, then breathing with a mask. (I had had a night w/ an O2 oximeter (free) to find out that my O2 absorbtion rate was too low, before I was convinced to do the sleep study. The cost had put me off.
At $4,000 a crack - Having two is pricey!
Also there were only two young sleep attendants managing the stats for 4 patients. A neurologist read the studies in the comfort of her office about 3 weeks later - no doctor was on the sleep scene.
It would be interested to hear their answer of why you needed two.

The first one just to monitor me and get all my stats. THen the report would be read by the doctor. If he feels that a cpap machine is needed (which he will) then the second night is to get me on one and get the right pressure.
They bill the insurance company $1500 but one of the gals told me the negotiated price with the insurance is about $1000. I am covered for 70% after a yearly $500 deductable.

I would have had to go back for a second study if I wasn't better informed. It took me most of the night just to fall asleep during the first study, so they only got 2 hours of me sleeping. There's no way they could do a good titration on that little amout of time, so I was going to have to go back for a titration study. Instead, I asked if I could just have an Auto and do it at home. As a result, I never had a titration study.

I just got my apap on Monday. I had to have two sleep studies. I asked why and was told that insurance dictates how many studies. Not sure I believe it. Anyway, first night was to get the stats, second night was titration.
Tonight's night 3. No miraculous spirt of energy yet, but I'm hoping!

I believe it!
You must have good insurance coverage that will pay a lot.
I have very good insurance, so I had to do
three nights in the sleep lab. And I'm sure if I went to see the sleep doctor again about anything, he'd suggest a couple more!
