Which wet wipe to use?

Post by Tonythetigger » Fri Feb 04, 2022 1:41 am

I was looking into using wet wipes to give my cushions a quick clean every day and I was wondering what are the guidelines I should look for?

I saw a lot of recommendations for baby wipes, but many of them come with a mild lotion. Is it okay to use that one or does it have to be completely lotion free?

I also saw some wet wipes not designated as baby, but are non-alcohol and have some kind of disinfectant. Are these usable at all? Thanks!

I use the cheapest non alcoholic baby wipes I can find. I never pay more than $3-4

As a rule, baby wipes are non-alcoholic.
(Think alcohol on diaper rash-it might even be illegal.)
Cheaper is better, because they tend to skimp on conditioner.
Read the ingredients list--the oils are down further.

There's actually nothing at all wrong with using alcohol on silicone masks, silicone isn't harmed by alcohol, I've been wiping down cushions with alcohol for years, it removes the oils really well.

Simple alcohol swabs are effective, cheap and the cushions dry almost immediately. https://www.walmart.com/ip/ReliOn-Steri ... /934213386

I don't know what's wrong with LSAT and alcohol. Alcohol will not damage silicone unless you put the mask in a container to soak.

Alcohol won't damage silicone even if you put it in a container to soak.

All online chemical compatibility sites say that IPA or ethyl alcohol don't harm silicone.

Here's just two:

i use generic baby wipes from an employee owned store called Winco. they are alcohol free with vit e and aloe. they are also scent free. when i first came to the forum, the scent free part seemed to be important to some forum members, but i don't hear that much any more.

oh! and i didn't go looking for the alcohol free part. or the rest, they just come that way. they are cheap and so am i.

a match made in heaven!

people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

That would be alcohol swabs in the diabetic supplies section of a pharmacy. Just bought a pack of 400 for $3.82. That will last Gramps and me 200 days.

This is also the most environmentally friendly way to keep the mask clean.

That's debatable.
Buying a bottle of alcohol and a bag of cotton balls would be. or a package of cotton gauze would have less packaging waste.

Of course if want even less environmental waste, then just use soap and water.

But 400 individually packaged items. that's more manufacturing and packaging waste.

I use a bottle of rubbing alcohol and a pack of cotton rounds I buy in the make up section. I think its about $1.00 for 100 cotton rounds. Oh they've gone up. Its 1.98 for 100 of them now. Good thing I have several packs. Prices are stupid right now.

For me it's Huggies not only for the size, strength, texture, and durability of the wipes but the resealable package they come in with all the lovely characters on the pkg.

400 days supply on the left.
90 days supply on the right. (If you very carefully apply it. Not to mention, a delivery media is needed.)

If you use up a quart of alcohol in 90 days, you're making a huge mess with all the extra alcohol. But whatever granny, facts don't seem to enter into your equations lately.

I like the Wal Mart store brand (Equate) baby wipes. Besides cleaning my husband's nose mask, I use them for lots of other things that need to be wiped up too.
