Did you know that skinny people get it as well?
Young skinny people...even babies and toddlers can get sleep apnea.

Trust me, I know. I'm not old either. I'm only 45. I had snoring issues going back to my mid 20s, but only when I laid on my back. If I slept on my side I was good, but that changed about four years ago. All of sudden sleeping on my side wouldn't prevent it from happening anymore, so I had to finally get the machine and it's been a struggle off and on over the past four years.

Sorry ...
I wasn't implying you were overweight.
It was a joke, that fell flat, on one of the possible complications of the surgery. Harder swallowing --> less food
Likewise I am not overweight, 180 cm and 73 - 75 kg.
We were dealt a bad hand in terms of genetics and epigenetics in regards to sleep apnea.
Just have to deal with the problem as best as we can via CPAP.
Surgery tends not to be the best option.

Weight gain is often the RESULT of untreated apnea.
The stereotype of fat guys with apnea is HUNDREDS of years old.
Charles Dickens wrote about it.
It's high time this stupid attitude is stamped out.

The problem has to do with modern man's underdeveloped jaws which mean narrower airways.
