Respironics OptiLife
Respironics OptiLife
Has any one heard of the OptiLife by Respironics? I just got a flyer today. It has nasal pillows and a built in chin strap. It looks cool, I tried one on and it was comfortable, I didn't get to keep it though. It is not "on sale" until Monday. I will let everyone know when I get one what I think, although I am not a CPAP user. It has four pillow sizes.
The following page from the Respironics web site doesn't help much - makes it sound like a trade name for a new series of masks.
"The Respironics My Life Series of Masks fits patients, their lives, and the life of your business.
The new My Life Series of Masks represents a new whole new level of fit. We?ve changed our approach to develop masks that fit patients? lives - not just their faces. And they?ll fit the life of your business, too.
We?re designing masks in the My Life Series to be more durable, more modular, more comfortable and more practical. It?s a whole new generation of masks designed to be more personal and adaptable to better fit the lives of homecare providers, sleep lab professionals and patients.
As you learn more about OptiLife™ and other masks that will be added in the near future, you?ll get an even clearer picture of how My Life fits your life. "

?????????
I wonder how come the patient is listed last???? MAYBE that has something to do with why its so hard to find a mask to fit well.

Respironics is simply listing their customer ranking.
- DME's are the main customers.
- Sleep labs are secondary customers.
- Patients are only marginally considered customers.
Too bad the patients don't have a voice with the manufacturers.
Regards,
Bill
It seems to me that the information I got was geared toward DME and Sleep Lab. The mask is not offered for sale until next week. The salesman is coming back at that time. Respironics is usually really good at focusing on the patient as a whole. The salesman did not focus on the sleep lab/DME benefit of the mask. They focused on ease of use for the patient. Every mask that has ever come on the market from any company has been aimed at sleep labs /DME's first before it is marketed toward patients. I didn't realize Respironics took as much heat on this forum as everyone else. In their defense the paperwork I got on the mask says, " This new generation of masks is designed to be more personal and adaptable - to better fit the lives of homecare providers, sleep lab professionals and, MOST IMPORTANT, patients."

Looks interesting...
A version with additional small mouth mask would be neat too...
My emphasis.OptiLife is designed to be easier to use with features that make life easier for patients, sleep professionals and providers alike.
Designed to fit a patient’s life
OptiLife features a unique headgear design and a chin support band that allows it to be easily put on and adjusted with little effort – and no buckles. In fact, OptiLife is so easy-to-use that the mask can be put into place with one hand. Plus, OptiLife is easy-to-clean and maintain, and it’s durable enough to stand up to the real-world demands of daily use.
Designed to fit the life of the sleep lab professional.
OptiLife is an ideal mask for introducing new patients to sleep therapy. It’s also easy for your staff to clean, assemble and seal patients quickly during titration. OptiLife better accommodates side sleepers and leaves the forehead open for polysomnographic leads.
Designed to fit the life of the homecare provider.
We gave OptiLife the features to enhance compliance and acceptance by your patients. Its robust seal, comfortable cushion, buckleless headgear, wide range of sizes and quiet design help patients stay compliant with their therapy. All of which helps you manage your patients and business more effectively
Not that bad actually.
But what's that light blue piece made off? What will it do to side sleeping cheeks?
O.

And now here is my secret, a very simple secret; it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.

Thanks for posting that picture of the OptiLife, JSkinner!!!! And KansasTR, thank you for bringing it to our attention!!!
KansasRT, how soft or flexible is that band across the face/cheeks that the head and chin strap attach to?
Why do you think the headstrap attaches to the face band closer to the center of the face than the chinstrap?
I'm impressed w/the depth of info Respironics has tried to present on this mask. I'm going to have to check to see if they present that much info on their other masks.
Did I miss or didn't they say how many or which pillows/cushions come w/one mask and headgear? Heaven knows I can't rely on my DME's RT to guage which pillow cushions would best fit me! Or to give me all that does come w/it unless I make it known ahead of time that I "know" what should come w/it.
I confess to watching only part of the pillows video. I dislike online videos, they take too long to load w/dial up and they seldom seem to load properly and completely.
