On Day 2 and the straps are confirmed digging into the top of my ears and makes it rather uncomfortable to wear at times until I’ve tightened the crown strap.gv280z wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 4:11 pmYeah if it's comfortable and doesn't leak, and you can see good results from the machine in the morning, then that would be a win in my book. It's kinda hard to judge based on the Amara View anyway because that is kinda a finicky mask. I appreciate the Hell out of it for rescuing me from the F20, *BUT* the area of contact, cushion to face ratio is really narrow, so even with me, I always felt like I couldn't let my mouth relax or if I just barely moved my mouth from side to side, it would immediately leak at the corners. That was with a medium, so I tried a large and that didn't work very well either. The medium was the right size for me, just wasn't a great fit. I switched over to both the F30 in medium and that's all I needed. The F30 has a nice larger surface area and makes a better seal. If she was using a small in the 'View, then the medium F30 might be a smidge big.
If she likes the F30, don't get rid of the Amara View headgear, eventually after the F30 headgear starts getting broken in, the straps will start to rub against the tops of her ears until shes tightening the crown strap(in an attempt to raise the side straps up) so much it's painful on top of the head. The 'View headgear works great with the F30 mask, I replace mine about every 6 months, it's much more comfortable.

Re: F30 - sizing, other questions
I didn’t like the F30 in size small because it felt like the nostril holes were too small and didn’t line up right so the mask would shift, I would block the holes and then end up mouth breathing. That would knock the mask loose and I’d wake up with a leaky mask and dry mouth.
Re: F30 - sizing, other questions
Well by the end of night 3 I had a sore nose from the cushion pressing against my ultra sensitive nostrils. This mask also doesn't solve the problem that makes me want a FFM in the first place. When I have a stuffed up or running nose I want a good FFM. I never plan to use it as my daily driver.
So my search continues. Any suggestions from the peanut gallery are more than welcome. I do like masks where the hose connects on top of the head, but that is not a deal breaker.

Re: F30 - sizing, other questions
Ended up dealing with random large leaks only in the nostril area in the past 7 days. Some nights I was fine but for the most part, I'd always wake up due to one bad nose leak and had to take it off or re-fit it. I was also borderline S and M using the fitting guide. The Size S is coming at the end of this week so I'll get to compare and return the one that doesn't fit. One thing that may help is the Padacheek mask liner which I've also just ordered and can give feedback later. I'm thinking it should help with any discomfort from the silicone as well as suppressing leaks so it has a lower chance of waking me up.
Respiratory Therapist suggested I order the AirTouch F20 instead since I have a small nose so I'll compare both the F20 vs F30's fit. I definitely think it's more suitable if you don't have a long nose.

Re: F30 - sizing, other questions
Coming from the F10 to F20, I started the New Year with a F30 medium. Used a medium in F10, tried a large in F20 and initially thought that would be the ticket to less mouth leaks. Not so. Also trying the memory foam large for F20 and although very comfortable, still many large leaks a night. But the F30.... only about 10 total night with that mask is far and the large leaks for me are almost nill. Hope I can report that same in a couple months. Not sure why, but a slight increase in AHI during nights with less leaks. I feel I sleep better with less interruptions, but AHI up slightly. Always under 5, so still happy.
Another note on the F30 fitting. When I first tried the fitting at the DME I really didn't think it was going to work at all. Breathing through those holes just did not feel right. The DME said take a loaner home and try it for a week. At home, under machine pressure the nose holes in the mask lined up perfectly and breathing was unimpended. Ordered a new one after a week.
Not long yet, but the best cure for the large leaks for me so far.

Re: F30 - sizing, other questions
The nostril area on the F30 will leak if its too tight, where the silicon is smooshed and deformed. I realize its counterintuitive but the optimal tightness should be just slightly snug, with a small amount of slack in the straps. Dont crank down on the straps on this, it shouldn't be tight enough where you feel pain.

I am posting my personal strap settings that hopefully you can use as a template to work back from. All measurements are from the tip of the strap to the seam. With this settings, mask is comfortable and doesn't leak.

Re: F30 - sizing, other questions
I wore the F30 the first time last night in small. The area around the mouth is so tight it cut off blood circulation to my lips. They swelled up...it hurts! According to my nose measurement
I should be in the small but my face is round. I really like this and wanted it to work. Good luck!

Re: F30 - sizing, other questions
The F30i is the mask I use now after using many others. It's not perfect, but it's good for me. The top-of-head vent is definitely louder than the F20 vents. Earplugs. I experimented with cutting out middle strip under the nose septum and it seemed to work fine without it, but also didn't seem to make a difference in my nose breathing, but it might be worth a try.
