Good afternoon everybody
Ive been on Cpap therapy for over 10 years now and doing very well. AHI most of the time is between 0 and .6. I have a 3 year old Dreamstation that is part of the recall and have not gotten a new device from Phillips yet. I also saw the FDA report that the foam in the DS2 is possibly questionable as well. I was able to purchase a very low hour Airsense Autoset 10 and am waiting for new hoses and filters. I understand the algorithms are very different between the 2 machines, do I use the same pressure and ramp settings on the Resmed as I did on the Dreamstation or will I need to adjust them for the new machine? Current settings now are min 16 max 20 with no ramp.
Thank you everyone
Switching from Dreamstation to Airsense Autoset 10
Re: Switching from Dreamstation to Airsense Autoset 10
You might be able to use slightly less minimum pressure with the ResMed algorithm...might not. It varies between people how much difference they can get by with. For me it was just a 2 cm lower minimum.
The ResMed auto adjusting algorithm just responds a little more quickly than the Respironics does.
I suggest starting real close to your old settings because you are used to them and if you go changing how things are going to feel to you it might be a bit disconcerting to experience something new.
Maybe like 15 cm minimum...same ramp settings if you use ramp.
I wouldn't go wild and crazy with big changes because your body is so used to the way things were done in the past.
If reducing the minimum...I would suggest going slow and small and watch the OA and hyponea numbers.
