No two necks are alike, so you can easily try a thousand bucks worth of neck pillows,
and still have pain. The best plan is to start cheap, and get creative until something
(or a combination) works for you.
Consider craft foam, and be ready to make a mess.

You didn't say for what purpose you use a neck pillow. Members can make better recommendations when they know what problem you are trying to solve.

I'll throw in a plug for the Tempurpedic neck pillow, that's the one that I use. Working for me for several years now, you'd have to try it...don't know about returning it if it doesn't work for you, you'd have to check that part out to see what you're getting into. By the way, I'm a side sleeper, so having a pillow that gives me little extra elevation is a good thing.
