Recently switched to Dreamstation BiPaP, can someone help interpret my data?
It's been a long hard road and I'm still not there yet and my sleep doctor seems to mostly have given up at this point, so I would love some help from folks here to interpret this data and how I can adjust my settings.
One of my major problems is I can't keep the mask on long enough, usually I can only wear it for 2-3 hours max. Random nights I'll wear it 5-7 hours, and feel *differently* not necessary better (but the 7 hour nights help me get through the day without a nap).

I'm a mouth breather so even though I enjoy the nasal pillow masks, I can't wear them because the chin strap makes things so much more difficult. I switched to a full face Philips Dreamwear.
Thank you in advance everyone! I really appreciate this community and all the resources.

When did you switch machines?
You do realize that the Dreamstation that you're using has been recalled and deemed 'unsafe' right?

Yes... still waiting on a replacement, it's been half a year. My sleep doctor said that if I'm not washing it with soap (which they identified as what's degrading the filter, causing the particles) then I should fine to use it. I only wash the tank every once in a while using diluted vinegar so...

I don't want to cause any anxiety and believe that for the most part people should keep using their devices as that is the lesser of two evils, but your Doctor doesn't understand the foam problem, and No, nobody has identified "washing it with soap" as the problem.sunsetblow wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 2:18 pmYes... still waiting on a goddamn replacement, it's been half a year. The problem is the degradation of the foam internal to the machine, which *nobody* is washing with soap.

I see.. thanks for clarifying that. I'm hoping the new devices will come out by January-ish and it'll be fine? I can't even operate like a functioning human being without it and I'm in crunch time at work so the machine has me hanging on by a thread.Dog Slobber wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 2:44 pmI don't want to cause any anxiety and believe that for the most part people should keep using their devices as that is the lesser of two evils, but your Doctor doesn't understand the foam problem, and No, nobody has identified "washing it with soap" as the problem.sunsetblow wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 2:18 pmYes... still waiting on a goddamn replacement, it's been half a year. In any case, do folks see ways I can adjust my settings/numbers based on the first screenshot?

I don't see changing a setting as fixing the problem of your taking your mask off prematurely and sleeping the rest of the night without the machine.
Is the mask leaking?
Is it uncomfortable?
Why do you think you need to remove it?
Do you have trouble falling asleep? Take a long time?
Why were you given this type of machine and set up with its hand tied like they are?
Central apnea diagnosis?
Obstructive apnea diagnosis?
Maybe combination of both central and obstructive???
To fix a problem we first have to identify the problem and all I got from your post was you aren't keeping the mask on long enough and I assume sleeping without the machine the rest of the night unless you get up and are only getting 3 hours of sleep.
From the one report....after about the first hour things go very well until you turn the machine off. What's going on that first hour?
More information is needed before we go offering changes to ASV settings because there could be important reasons for the settings to be what they are.

No pun intended but don't hold your breath while waiting for Phillips to come out with a new BiPPAP machine by January. Two months ago while speaking with a Phillips rep she told me that to her knowledge a BiPAP wasn't even in the works yet.sunsetblow wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 2:50 pmI see.. thanks for clarifying that. Was on the phone with the Philips people just now and the rep claimed that machines were already going out since the FDA approved the plan to replace 5.5 weeks ago. I registered back in June so the rep seemed confused why I hadn't received anything yet.... she made a "note to escalate" so we'll seeConrad wrote: ↑Mon Nov 15, 2021 8:51 amNo pun intended but don't hold your breath while waiting for Phillips to come out with a new BiPPAP machine by January. I'll try to answer all these questions....Pugsy wrote: ↑Mon Nov 15, 2021 5:44 amI don't see changing a setting as fixing the problem of your taking your mask off prematurely and sleeping the rest of the night without the machine.

More information is needed before we go offering changes to ASV settings because there could be important reasons for the settings to be what they are.
1. No mask leaks
2. Not more uncomfortable than anything normally, I think. I mean I do take it off, it's usually because I woke up in the middle of the night and can't fall back asleep with the mask on. Sometimes it's because it feels like its blowing extra hard, other times it's my regular mind issue (can't go back to sleep because of stress).
3. I fall asleep super fast, I used to have a lot of trouble staying asleep all night but I think I've finally achieved a better balance with the help of the machine.
4. Was given the machine because I was using a regular CPAP and the sleep doctor asked for a second sleep test since it wasn't working and she said I had more central than obstructive (problem in my brain, not so much my tongue or whatever, as I understand it?)
5. First hour is when I fall asleep deeply, I suppose? Whenever I take the mask off after 2-3 hours, then it's usually because I wake up and then what I said in answer #2. I use Vaporub and also nasal spray when I get too congested, so I don't feel like that should be the problem either.
Hope I provided some good detail... happy to answer more, if I know what else is important! Thank you!

Which nasal spray are you using? The ones that contain oxymetazoline cause insomnia in some people. Personally, if I use a 24-hour oxymetazoline spray in the morning, my night will be restless.
Re: Recently switched to Dreamstation BiPaP, can someone help interpret my data?
When you wake up after a few hours and don't think you can go back to sleep....what do you do?
Get up? Take the mask off and go back to sleep?
How long has this been going on? Just since the change to this ASV machine or was this something you did when on the cpap machine?
When you wake up and think the machine is blowing really high....it isn't...the most it can go to for IPAP (inhale) is 13 cm and that's not really all that much.

Yes, Dreamstation 2s are shipping out and folks have been receiving them. My DME had one for me, mistakenly so as I need a BiPAP machine (I turned it down). The DS2 is not available in a BiPAP version yet.sunsetblow wrote: ↑Mon Nov 15, 2021 5:01 pmWas on the phone with the Philips people just now and the rep claimed that machines were already going out since the FDA approved the plan to replace 5.5 weeks ago.
