Help with Oscar
Help with Oscar
I got my new resmed 10 autosense Sep 26 and have been try to understand the Oscar app. I am attaching a screenshot of last night and just looking at the previous night it is about an average night. Any suggestions as to what I might change? I have been on cpap for about 10 years and had the dreamwear app that I always relied on. With the dreamwear my AHI was probably an average of 3-3.5 but I am always sleepy when I wake up and doze while watching TV in the afternoon. This might be due to being 73 years old, lol. Anyway thanks for all you do and keep up the good work.

Re: Help with Oscar
Congratulations on using Oscar!
It's showing us that you are having a fair number of hypopneas, many of which come at around the same time you're having flow limitations. If you were feeling good during the day, I'd say don't worry about this. But because you're feeling sleepy, it's worth trying to fine-tune your settings to see whether that helps.
Let's not make dramatic changes all at once. How about raising your minimum to 9 and adding EPR of 1? I'm especially eager to see whether the EPR reduces the flow limitations and, perhaps, the hypopneas. Depending on the results of this little experiment, you may want to increase the EPR and/or the minimum in the future. But try the revised settings for a few days and then let's see what has happened.
One other thing. I see you had three breaks in treatment during the night. Can you recall why?

Re: Help with Oscar
Welcome to the group. I was your age when I started treatment six years ago, so I understand the old man syndrome. Hypopneas can interrupt your sleep cycle just as much as apneas can. By raising the lower pressure, you should be able to reduce the number of hypopneas.

Re: Help with Oscar
Thanks to all of you, My pressure setting on my dreamwear cpap was at a constant 11.0 and my average AHI was probably around 4-5. Will try my new settings for a couple of more day and resubmit my graphs. Thanks again.

Re: Help with Oscar
Was the SD card fully inserted in the cpap machine during the night or was it sitting in your computer.
SD card MUST be in the cpap machine to get the detailed graphs.
Only the summary numbers you see on the left side are stored in the machine.
The detailed data files have to go directly to the SD card....otherwise they are lost forever.

Re: Help with Oscar
You are right, sitting in my computer, I saw it this morning and put in back thinking it would capture last night but apparently I was wrong. Thanks Pugsy, will try again tomorrow.

Re: Help with Oscar
Both hypopneas and FLs are improved, which is good to see. CAs ticked upward; this may reflect a restless night, or it may mean your body is adjusting to the changes you made. I'd suggest sticking with these revised settings for at least another 3 days or so, given how much sleep can vary from one night to the next.
I notice you had more leaks. Did they bother you?
Next time you post a chart, be sure to move the vertical slider on the left panel so the
information at the top is visible.
