newbie with supplies question

Post by onward60 » Thu Sep 16, 2021 8:50 pm

I am wondering if people use a hose cover and, if so, which one do they use and why? The DME store is not near me, so I hope to order one online if I need one. Funds are low, so hoping for advice about this before I decide.

Also, is there another supply I should consider getting ASAP? Or can I wait and see how it goes?

Thank you!

Which machine are you using and is the existing hose a heated hose or non heated hose?

You may not even need a hose cover at this time. The main function is to prevent condensation in the hose and/or mask and it isn't always needed to cover the hose.

Amazon and EBay will usually decent hose covers that don't cost much but people can also easily make a DIY hose cover if needed.

I do suggest waiting a bit on the purchase of accessories until you get a feel for what you might need or want.

i personally don't use a hose cover, as i have a heated hose. however, you can make your own cover out of old socks stitched together or whatever fabric you may have around the hose.

btw, which brand and model of cpap did you get?

oh! and welcome to the zoo.

I prefer to keep my heated hose uncovered.
The cat leaves it alone that way.
She's some smart cookie.

Thanks for the socks idea! That is great. :D I have the Resmed Airsense 10 for her. I'm still working on the mask. I have another appointment today.

I have the Airsense 10 for her. I tried adding that to my profile a few minutes ago, but I don't see it showing up under my posts. I wonder how that works.

I only get a non-heated hose.

It just occurred to me I should try Etsy.
