Need advice on machine replacement

Post by aben » Sat Aug 14, 2021 4:25 pm

I have been away from the forum for several years.
Been using a PR 750 P auto bipap machine for at least 5 years with satisfactory results.
Just learned about the recall.
Would like advice on what kind of a machine to look for that would likely be similar in use to the PR.
Any suggestions about where to look for a machine? (new or used).
I have thought about a Resmed Airsence 10 autoset if I could find one.
Does anyone know if the newer Resmed machines will operate on 12 volts?
Is there any possibility to update an eligible PR machine with a safe foam.

Thanks,
Ben

Been using a PR 750 P auto bipap machine
At what settings?

The AirSense 10 AutoSet can't match some settings of the BiPap...so it depends on your settings if you could get by with the AutoSet.

The ResMed machine that functions like your bipap would be the AirCurve 10 VAuto.

No, all current ResMed machines are 24 volt.

They will, if you get the 12v adapter for them.

You could probably do well with the AirSense 10 Autoset.
The two main features that are potentially different between the AirCurve 10 VAuto and the AutoSet are the maximum available IPAP and the PS availability being higher than 3 with the AirCurve.
You don't seem to be using pressures requiring more than 20 cm limit of the AirSense and PS of 3 is essentially EPR of 3 (which is the max) on the AutoSet.

An AutoSet would obviously cost less when paying out of pocket.

Now if you had said your minimum EPAP was 15 and max IPAP was 25 and you often saw pressures over 20...or if you needed greater than 3 PS...then the AutoSet might not suit your needs.

I use the AirCurve 10 VAuto...don't have high pressures but I do like PS of 4 just because I like it but my back up machine is an AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her....and I can do just fine with EPR at 3.

I suspect you would do well with the AirSense AutoSet. You aren't currently using any settings that the AutoSet can't deliver. That was my main concern.
