Hi all, longtime lurker, first time poster. I've been on CPAP therapy for 3 years or so, and this board has been a huge help. In the last couple days my machine is persistently making a faint mooing sound with my breath almost identical to the one recorded in this thread:
viewtopic/t156974/Weird-CPAP-Sound-Airs ... e+10+whale
I didn't see any resolution to their problem. Here's what I've tried so far:
-inspected seals where tank meets machine for damage/crimping
-clean all seals and humidifier tank
-squeeze tank shut and make sure it's fully seated in the machine
-lube all seals with water based lube
-swap out humidifier tank for brand new backup tank (both with and without lubing its seal)
-disconnect and reconnect hose, inspecting hose port
-change air inlet filter
-back blow air through hose outlet
-give it a good solid shake while it's making the noise (I was beyond frustrated with it last night!)
My machine made similar but louder noises occasionally in the past and either a good squeeze/reseating of the tank or lubing of the seals fixed it every time. I picked up my machine and listened from all angles to see where the noise was coming from and it seems to be right in the center of the brick.
My machine is on my night stand cushioned on a folded up pillowcase, with one flap over the front to block the display light. It's my second machine, bought as a remanufactured unit over 2 years ago from a reputable online company after returning my original leased machine to Crapria. (Warranty long expired).
I'm at my wits end. Just cranking our white noise fan to a louder level to drown it out isn't a good long term solution. I'm open to any and all suggestions that don't I involve sending it in for repairs as I don't have a backup machine.
Thanks in advance!

By any chance, did you purchase the machine using Medicare? If so, Medicare requires the DME to replace any machine that fails within five years.Otterdaughter wrote: ↑Sat Jul 24, 2021 11:56 amI'm open to any and all suggestions that don't I involve sending it in for repairs as I don't have a backup machine.
As far as not having a backup machine, maybe you bought the machine from a local DME who can provide a loaner until this is resolved?
As far as the current machine, you might see if the noise can be resolved using these techniques <snicker> - https://www.wikihow.com/Calm-Cows

Put grain in the feed bunk and latch the stanchion around her neck.
Talk gently to her as you approach with pail and stool.
Make sure your hands are warm.
Try not to laugh too loudly when you squirt the barn cats.
As for the noisy machine, last resort would be to hang a small quilt in front of it,
being careful not to block incoming air.

I'm still 13 years shy of qualifying for Medicare, so no. And the DME company I ordered it from is all the way across the country from me. The only one local to me is Apria and I swore I'd never deal with those jerks again.ChicagoGranny wrote: ↑Sat Jul 24, 2021 1:47 pmBy any chance, did you purchase the machine using Medicare? "Those jerks" can take a long walk--I can't say where.

may i suggest buying a gently used machine from forum member, lsat? send him a private message; he often has machines for sale.
then you could use the used machine while the main unit is being repaired.
while i haven't bought a machine from lsat, he's reputable and i haven't heard any complaints from forum members who have purchased from him. to the contrary, nice things are said about the transaction.

I second this, lsat is good to deal with. I purchased my AirSense 10 from him and it went very smoothly.
