Weird morning experience this morning

Post by blarg » Thu Jan 11, 2007 1:33 am

I had the stragest experience this morning. Last night I went to bed very late because I was working on an assignment for school. I woke up this morning and realized that my bed wasn't shaking. I have an alarm clock that vibrates the bed, as it was really the only way to roust me. I look over at the clock and it was a half hour before the alarm was supposed to go off. And I felt awake and alive!

This is the first time this has ever happened to me in my entire life, and I spent a good 20 minutes laying in bed with the mask still on incredulous that I was actually ready for the day and trying to fall back asleep.

Good for you bro, man you must be some deep sleeper to need an alarm clock bed like that! Since I've been cpaping sometimes I wake up feeling so good I can't believe it.

Cheers

The hilarious part about the alarm clock:

It's made for deaf people.

This means it has adjustable pitch, goes 20db louder than most other alarm clocks, has a place to plug a light in to which it flashes at you, AND shakes the bed.

And before CPAP I've slept through 3+ hours of ALL of that going on before waking up.

Anyone surprised that I'm not having trouble sleeping through the whole night with a mask on? I'm not. lol.

Now you know why this was so weird for me to wake up early.

Better get used to it Blarg. I usually wake before my alarm now. I've always had 2 alarm clocks. One by the bed one further away so I had to get up to shut it off. Neither worked for me. Now I'm up before either goes off most mornings!

Waking up early

Blarg - to have had this experience so soon - WOW! I am so glad that you are getting treatment before so much of your life has passed you by in a daze. But since you started with the sleep issues as a child, it has been a very long time. Congratulations! May it just keep getting better and better till those mornings are the norm.

Hey Blarg,
When I was a kid my mother would have sure loved one of those alarm clocks you mentioned, I can still hear her words, this is the last time I'm waking you, be late see if I care.

Blarg,

I have gone through the same thing. Wake up with NO ALARM after 7 hours of good sleep. Lay there thinking, hey, no headache, and I wonder why I am up at this hour. I go through my day without a thought of a nap now.

VERY COOL feeling.

Isn't it great!

Maybe soon you will wake up before your bedshaking, light flashing alarm goes off. I certainly hope so.

It's a sign that you have paid back your body for the lack of sleep you had been getting, I noticed the same thing, now when I wake up, I feel like I might as well start the day. I could go back to sleep, but if I do it's never more that 20 minutes, and I am back awake. Jim

Good for you. I went from hitting the snooze button 3-4 times a morniing to getting up 10-15 minutes before the alarm every day

must be something with the alignment of the moon and stars or something, I had a GREAT night of sleep also, probably the best I've had on cpap in over 5 years of being on it. Feel like a million bucks!!

if it would only last...

Good for you---my day was yesterday. It's such a great feeling to wake up before the alarm and actually feel rested. It doesn't happen for me every day but when it does, it's great. Here's hoping you'll have the same incredible morning day after day!!
