Senior Mad getting charged for CPAP bag by airline

Post by cpapernewbie » Tue Jul 13, 2021 9:17 pm

Interesting article: https://montrealgazette.com/news/canada ... in-his-bag

It is not the bomb threat, but my question is: Why did the airline charged him extra for the bag of CPAP?

Non-USA carriers have different rules, like carry-on charges for cpaps.
No threat should go beyond that to record, report, and litigate,
No matter where you are.

International rules are why I bought an AirMini for travel. After getting stopped in Copenhagen (or Stockholm, can't remember which) and told my CPAP did count as a third item and had to either be checked or packed into my carryon, I bought the AirMini when I got home. It fits into my tote or backpack along with my meds, book, change of clothes, etc. and I don't need to worry about it anymore! And easier not to have a third bag. (I didn't argue with the gate attendant, just stuffed it in and asked my husband, once I finally boarded the plane, why HE didn't just carry it on for me! )

I travelled to internationally to many countries and so far not getting into any dispute on my extra CPAP, so i was under the impression that there is an international regulation that CPAP bag as an extra is accepted. It seems that even in an US airport, Air Canada charged CPAP bag as extra. Good to know for the next trip.

If you think that is bad, search Ireland and Aer Lingus.
Positively medieval!
