Picking a backup machine- Apap user

Post by 1sleepyhubby » Mon Jun 28, 2021 1:53 pm

Hello All-

Just getting caught up to speed here on this whole Dreamstation fiasco and trying to determine what kind of backup machine I should get as a replacement. I'm an OG Dreamstation user since it first came out but realize I have to switch. I don't need any extra issues, especially since I've been using a SoClean2 for a long time too so I bet my foam is just awful. I have been looking through a well known second hand cpap website since I'll be paying cash and its a backup. I like the idea of a smaller machine so that I can use that for travel once this is all resolved. I realize I'm due for a new machine, however, I wanted to get a new sleep study as my sleep quality has been crappy for a while and I don't want to use up my freebie from the insurance on something cheap. Considering the ResMed S8 Escape or Elite but I don't think those are APAPs? Also looked at the Apex machines, but worried because I've never really heard of them. I'd appreciate your input. Thank you!

ancient Junk

Elite
Ancient might as well be junk.
Resmed stopped making the S8 in 2010, you can't get any data off the Elite, even though it had some back in the day.

You need *a least* a S9 Autoset, or Airsense 10 Autoset.

Apex machines,
Not recommended unless you're desperate.

Sorry...OG as in original. I got it when it first came out and was to be the best APAP ever sold....at least that's what my DME guy at the time told me...
