Hi,
Newbie CPAP user here. I was two months in on the Dreamstation when I learned of the recall. No recall yet in my part of the world, so I got a slightly used Resmed Airsense 10 to mitigate whatever the Philips can do to my health. However, I have been feeling gassy with two nights on the Resmed. I would wake up in the middle of the night with the Philips, but with the Resmed, my sleep feels more disrupted and uneasy.
I tried to approximate my settings on the Philips Dreamstation. For the last night, I tinkered with the pressure settings and expanded them a bit compared to what I had on the Dreamstation. They are now 4 min to 7.6 max. I am using a Philips Dreamwear Under-the-nose nasal mask and set the mask setting to "nasal" on the Resmed Airsense 10. I am not sure if I should have set it to "pillows" and if that even affects readings and the pressure.
Any ideas on how I can deal with this? Is this just a stage of getting used to a new machine? Or too early to worry? I would appreciate your thoughts.
switched to Resmed Airsense 10 from PR Dreamstation. Feel gassier. Settings issue?

Looks like you are spending a little more time at the higher pressures with the ResMed which doesn't surprise me.
ResMed's tend to do that fighting flow limitations but sometimes the fighting with higher pressures can cause the air in the belly issues.
It's common...called aerophagia.
Search the forum for it...lots of discussion. Lots of hints on what to do to help reduce it.
You are already pretty much doing what we might suggest to help reduce it in terms of machine settings except maybe just limit the max a bit more. You can't go lower than 4 cm...and you can't go higher than 3 EPR...so that leaves reducing the max a bit.
Try reducing the max 0.2 cm and see if that helps or not...if it doesn't try another 0.2 cm reduction.

Well worth trying Pugsy's recommendation of a lower maximum. Just a different of .2 can cause/relieve aerophagia.

This is interesting, last night was my first with my new Airsense 10 for Her and I had the same experience- I was basically blown up like a balloon! I'll try lowering the upper pressure, too. What about the EPR? I haven't turned that on, would it possibly help, also? Other than that it sure is a quiet machine.

Turn EPR on...it's the first thing we suggest people do who are having aerophagia issues.ILoveFlowers wrote: ↑Sun Jun 20, 2021 8:18 pmThis is interesting, last night was my first with my new Airsense 10 for Her and I had the same experience- I was basically blown up like a balloon! With the OP here...EPR is already maxed out and thus we can't add any more.

Okay thanks. I will try lowering the max.Pugsy wrote: ↑Sun Jun 20, 2021 7:52 pmLooks like you are spending a little more time at the higher pressures with the ResMed which doesn't surprise me.
