Sometimes the on screen usage hours don't reflect actual usage because maybe the machine was turned off for a little bit and then restarted and when this happens a new session is created and the usage only reflects the most recent session or you happened to do it when the new session starts.

Don't worry...the reporting time is a 24 hour period that starts at noon GMT. So even if you did 2 hours in one session and 4 hours later did another 2 hours and 3 hours later you did another 2 hours....it all totals to 6 hours during that 24 hour period. So it all counts towards compliance.

Shift workers...it all works out in the end using the 24 thing. If you can't use it for a couple of nights....as long as you have more than 4 hours logged of usage for 70% of 30 consecutive nights you will be good to go. If you get in a pinch and compliance is iffy....use the machine while awake and watching TV for a few hours. The machine won't know you aren't asleep and neither will anyone else but it still counts as "usage".

What if you are a shift worker? What if you had a cold and couldn't use it for a couple of nights?

I too noticed that my cpap time isn’t correct however I noticed if I go to sleep late (or early) like 2a-4a and sleep until 12-1p the next day it has only recorded like 0.9 hrs or 0.5hrs....and then my AHI is high. This is mainly weekend times, during the week I go to bed between 11p-1a, getting up around 10 or 11a & my hrs are correct.
I use my CPAP all the time along with a chin strap. Sometimes an eye mask too....good thing I am not claustrophobic lol 🙂
Just learned some new features abt my cpap although been using it since 2018. Also just signed up with the mapper.com thingy tonight.
What time should I set the cpap clock so it records but entire sleeping hours? I don’t get why it doesn’t just record the duration of me using it. Any advice would be helpful, TIA.

It does record the entire time it is being used. The daily reporting feature switches to a new day at noon. Example, you go to sleep at 5:00 a.m. and sleep until 1:00 p.m. When you wake up at 1:00 and look at the display, it will say you slept one hour that day. The next days' usage will have this one hour added.

The best practice is to set your machine clock to the correct time. You will really appreciate this if you ever start using OSCAR. OSCAR is considered far superior to DreamMapper. DreamMapper is only good for a quick look and is no better than what can be seen on the machine display.

Be aware that the data available is limited because this model machine doesn't gather a lot of data.

Be aware that the machine has to have a starting time for the sleep session and an ending time....no matter when you sleep and when you sleep past the new starting time then the sleep session gets broken. Recording session...24 hour time frame.
Respironics machines normally use Noon GMT time and not necessarily Noon your local time depending on where you live for when they start a new recording session.

Ok I will set the cpap as close as I can to my actual time. I just joined on the mapper.com site. Can you tell me what Oscar is and how I can sign up? Thanks for the replys.

You don't 'sign up' for Oscar - you use it anywhere from every day at first, to eventually less often once you feel results are consistent over time.

Oscar was developed by a former forum member - first as 'Sleepyhead' and now Oscar (changes/improvements made with other members) and is the most comprehensive program available outside of a sleep lab to see overnight results of C/Apap. Look at the 2nd Stickie at the top of the 1st forum page, plus http://cpaptalk.com/wiki/index.php/Oscar:organize
to use it and post in this thread for experts to help interpret and, if necessary, suggest tweaks to your Cpap use.

Yes it is software and runs on pc/mac. You need an SD card reader to read the sd card from your cpap.

Most laptops and computers come with built-in SD card slots.

and those built-in sd card slots are readers.

now, if'n there isn't a built in slot, then one gets a usb dongle to sd card reader.

I posted nothing to "you". Don't understand your irrational criticism. My post was to huni_suckle
