Darth Vader breathing with S10 Airsense Autoset

Post by MyIdaho1 » Mon May 24, 2021 11:31 am

Last night, I accidentally knocked my S10 Airsense Autoset onto a carpeted floor (1-1/2 drop). Put it back on the nightstand, filled the reservoir, and put on my mask. Turn on, pressure builds but not in the normal linear fashion. High end pressure is higher than normal feels like will blow the mask off my face and cycles between very high and somewhat lower. Air flowing through my Mirage Quattro Pro sounds like Darth Vader breathing (even when I hold my breath). Any thoughts on what may be the problem?

I searched and found a list of repair prices from Altra Cpap repair https://cpap-repair.com/flat-rate-pricing/. They list high/low/fluctuating pressure as a PC Board issue with an estimated repair price of $325. That's about half the price of a new Airsense Autoset. My autoset is just under 2 years old so may be worth the repair... Anyone have experience with Altra Cpap repair (Florida firm) or Advans Cpap repair (California firm)?

Thanks,

Rick

try reseating the humidifier more firmly in place.

fingers crossed that this will cure it.

good luck!

Good thought Zonker! Cpap was acting more normally aft reseating for a short while but then became problematic again. Holding the humidifier firmly in place did not make a difference. Good thought, hadn't tried it before your post.
Interestingly, air pressure is so high it pops my ears! That's never happened before!

Thanks LSAT. I checked on service warranty: acbio provides 90 days, altra provides 1 year and not listed for Advans.

well, that's too bad. better than having to have it repaired.

hoping you have a backup machine, then?

Yes, thankfully, my S9 autoset was brought back into service, slept like a baby! I actually like the s9 better than the s10...

<whew!>

let this stand as a lesson to the new folk. you don't want to be without your machine even for one night, so get that backup.

yeah, long story but i'm back on philips after giving the resmed a very long go. i have nothing but good things to say about my s10 and will always recommend it.

things just worked out they way they did and now the resmed is my backup.

ResMed has a two year warranty.

It wouldn't hurt to try for a warranty repair.
If it is denied, you're no worse off.

If Medicare paid for you machine, then your DME is on the hook for repairs or replacement for 5 years, regardless of the warranty. You will be on the hook for a 20% co-pay for the cost of repairs. This MIGHT be covered by your supplemental plan.
