Mask Fit at higher pressures

Post by braddw25 » Thu May 13, 2021 10:02 am

Hello all,

I have a question about mask fit and adjustment. I am using a resmed F20 air touch full face mask and love it for the most part. Thanks to the awesome helpful people on this forum I was able to get my machine pressure adjusted correctly and for the last 6 months it has been a very rare occurrence for m AHI to be above 1. In fact, there have been more nights where the reading was zero than nights above 1. My only issue now is that I think I may have my mask fit too tightly. It leaves lines on my face every morning and now is starting to cause the back of my neck to be sore. I have been trying to adjust this for the past week. However, every time I loosen it even slightly I start to get Large leaks for significant amounts of time. I had my standard sized head gear so tight that the velcro could barely attach to where it was supposed to attach. As a results I switch to the small sized head gear. It prevents leaks fine but from what I have read it's too tight based on the lines on my face and the sore that is forming on my neck. I have to believe that with my head size (not small at all) I should probably not be using the small head gear and should instead go back to the standard size and get it adjusted correctly. I'm just not sure how to do that. I have watched Youtube videos and tried what they suggested but have not yet been able to get it to work. I need fairly high pressure (16mm h20) so I would guess that this contributes to my difficulties. I don't want to back the pressure off because my sleep is great at this level so I think I am needing to learn how to properly fit my mask instead. Thank you for any advice that anyone can provide.
