Full-Face Mask for Side-Sleepers without Nasal Pillows

Post by WearyOne » Wed May 12, 2021 10:19 am

.
What would you recommend in a full-face mask for a side sleeper that does not have nasal pillows?

I have been using the Hybrid (InnoMed/RespCare) for all of my 14 years on CPAP, but now for some reason my nose often hurts in the morning. Tried switching the height of the nasal pillows and the size but it doesn't really help. I need to try something else that also covers my mouth, but obviously don't want more nasal pillows. I tried the Amara View since it just sits on the outside of the nose, but that thing leaked like crazy.

Would love some suggestions! Thanks!

The DreamWear full face mask is essentially a new an improved version of the Amara View and from when I gave it a comparison trial..much easier to seal and keep sealed.
Lower profile for the cushion and more comfortable and I found the silicon a bit "softer".
hose attaches at the top and perhaps making it a bit more stable as well.

ResMed has a similar model with the hose coming from the mouth section..the F30

and one with hose attaching at the top the F30i

I recommend F30i
I sleep on my side 50% of the time and felt like the flow in the side air tubes got cut off too much with the ResMed F30i. Switched to the more traditional F30 with the front hose and it seems to work pretty well for side sleeping.

I've looked at a few of the ones with the hose on top and therefore the air running down through a tube on each side of your face (like the F30i). I have that concern that I would smash closed one side when sleeping on that side and wouldn't feel I was getting enough air. I read some FAQ somewhere saying that you still get enough air from the other side if that happened. Still don't think I'd be comfortable with one like this, though.

Thanks for sharing your experience on the F30!
