HELP - Canadian dealers recommendations

Post by PurrceyS » Sun May 09, 2021 3:17 pm

Hi,

I'm looking for recommendations for Canadian dealer recommendations.

edited to update: a poster here suggested https://cpapmachinescanada.ca/
Although they are more expensive than some of the other vendors in Canada, they have a 30 day exchange program for masks if it turns out to be the wrong size or wrong mask. I know it can take several tries to find the right mask so I felt having the option to exchange a mask was more important than price since the masks I'm trying are new to me.

Thank you again.

original message:
I'm an experienced APAP user (13 years) but my present mask model isn't working for me any more (multiple leaks even with a new mask). Therefore I'm considering trying new masks. I've been a happy customer of cpap.com but unfortunately the masks I'm considering, the manufacturers will not permit them to ship to me in Canada. (Neither Resmed or Phillips/Respironics allow them to send their equipment to customers in Canada.)

Therefore I have to find a Canadian dealer.
Can anyone suggest a dealer with reasonable prices and a return/exchange policy for masks that don't fit or work?

Or has anyone in Canada used a US forwarding service that's reliable and not too expensive to get around this issue?

I would greatly appreciate it.

Well, dealers here sell everything, but you pay a higher price, whether currency exchange or mark-up. But I am only aware of Resmed being a problem, not Phillips... are you sure about that?

About where are you - there are DME's I can steer you towards.

How about re-shippers?

According to cpap.com, they aren't allowed to ship Phillips either.

I'm in Toronto, any suggestions would be good especially if I can exchange a mask if it doesn't work for me.

Yes, I've considered that, I know some Canadians do use them. Are you Canadian? Do you have any you can recommend?

Pre pandemic, there were services that would let you set up a US address & you could retrieve your packages. However, our border's been closed for all but essential travel and is not expected to reopen for a considerable amount of time yet.

cpap.com is not allowed to sell/ship anything outside of the US for both ResMed and Phillips Respironics brands.
None of their products. Now other brand yes...but not ResMed or Respironics.
No masks, no machines or even a little name brand filter.

This is something that ResMed and Respironics has forced cpap.com to adhere to this policy. I am sure that cpap.com would love to ship those products outside the US but ResMed and Respironics has made this ban part of their contracts with cpap.com to sell their merchandise.

Using cpap.com for mask swapping using the return insurance isn't really a good option anyway even for the brands they can ship outside the US. The time in customs (both sides) can really mess up the time frame allowed to make use of the exchange/refund policy.

I decided to order a Resmed f20 AirTouch from this compamy. Although it's expensive (other Canadian vendors were cheaper) they offer a 30 day exchange program for masks if it isn't the right size or model for me. Going to a new mask I know can be trial and error so it's important to be able to return it if it doesn't fit right or doesn't work for me.

They are local (here in Toronto) and it ships in 1-7 business days so it should fairly quickly.
