does anyone know of an app/program that analyzes raw OSCAR data?

Post by amiru » Sat May 08, 2021 9:28 pm

My primary care physician prescribed my APAP machine back in January. To this day, they have not gotten back to me about ANY analysis of the raw data. I was told that the data is accessible to my doctor, but I have no idea how I am doing, as I have received zero feedback. I am as tired as ever, as affected by neurological pain as ever. I followed this board's direction to download my data and save it in OSCAR format, but this information is Chinese to me. Is anyone aware of a program that would analyze the data and provide feedback? It seems bizarre to me that I am hooked up to an APAP machine for 5 months now, but I have not the slightest clue if it's even helping. I would love to be able to upload my data to a computer ... at this point, I value artificial intelligence over my health care system.

Sorry, there is no such app that will do the work of analyzing the data that OSCAR shows you that your machine is recording.
OSCAR is only reporting what the machine records.

It isn't all that difficult once someone learns what the data points mean though.

Some questions for you right now though...do you have a copy of the original sleep study results that were done to earn you the diagnosis of OSA and thus this machine?
Was the sleep study done in a sleep lab or did you just have a home sleep study?
Do you take medications.....if so what?
Do you happen to know if there were very many central apneas found on the diagnostic sleep study?
Are you sleeping soundly or is your sleep highly fragmented by lots of wake ups?

Your detailed reports are screaming that you need some help but we need answers to some questions before we can really offer any ideas as to why your reports are obviously less than ideal and it's no wonder you feel like crap.

If you don't have a copy of the sleep study or studies that you had...request them.
First thing we need to do is figure out if you had centrals before starting cpap or they just popped up after starting the cpap.
CAs...reported by OSCAR...those are clear airway apnea events or another word for central apneas.

While the data maybe accessible to your "primary care" doc it is clear to me he has no idea what to do next or how to help you.

Find a "Sleep Doc" I prefer a pulmonologist who specializes in sleep but you may find you need a neurologist (who specializes in sleep) if it turns out those are true centrals.
