New sleep study

Post by sleepyone101 » Tue May 04, 2021 9:01 pm

It's been several years since I had an overnight sleep study and mslt done and I'm going to be having it done again because of daytime sleepiness. My pressure setting that was determined from the last study was 8. If they find that a different pressure is better now, will the sleep doctor just tell me to change the pressure on my cpap machine? I wasn't sure what the process was like since this is my first sleep test since actually having my own cpap machine.

Which specific make and model of CPAP machine do you have? Is it fully data-capable? Are you currently monitoring your therapy with software? If it is data capable and you are using software, you're essentially getting a sleep study every night.
If your machine is data-capable and you're not using software, get some (it's free) and save the money you'd waste on a sleep study. You need to take control of your own therapy and then you won't be at the mercy of a sleep doctor.

Has anyone taken a sleeping pill before their overnight sleep test? My sleep doctor told me that benzo's are ok to take before the test. I thought that some benzos suppress rem sleep though.

I have the resmed s9 autoset. They are mainly doing the testing to check on possible idiopathic hypersomnia or narcolepsy.
