First Night on Bleep

Post by 2trahall » Wed Apr 21, 2021 6:51 pm

Hello,

Last night was my first night on the Bleep. I absolutely loved it and it was the first night that I didn't wake up with discomfort. Would you all look and my OSCAR and give me some feedback on improvements I might make in the Resmed Airsense 10 Clinical Settings to make my treatment more effective? I have the new Bleep but my wife says its a bit loud.

Any Thoughts?

She's probably saying it's loud because of the leaks. You'll get the hang of the Bleep. It should be leak-free after a few nights.

looks like you have the ramp on. and that's fine, but you may want to consider turning it off after you get more used to the whole process.

more importantly, look at your pressure graph. your machine starts at a minimum pressure of seven then goes up to ten. it never really gets back to seven.

if it were me, i'd start at a higher minimum, maybe even going with 10 as a starting point.

good luck!
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Couple things regarding noise. When seating the ports, the slightest little click into place can make a world of difference is noise. Once mine is on, I use my thumbs to cover both sides of the exhale holes to see if there's any other air escaping. For a while I added a sponge under the vents to diffuse the air, but soon got used to the sounds. Still usually position the edge of my soft blanket where the air will hit and it accomplishes the same goal of sound muffling.

Same here, except after covering with my thumbs I inhale hard to check for leaks. It also "sets" the adhesive in place and helps it stay put through the night.

Had my first night with Bleep as well. My Resmed tubing is long, so I put an elastic scrunchie around it, and around my wrist, and the tube was pretty much under my control. 😁 Still trial and error with getting set up. What if you have to sneeze!!! 😭

I check for leaks twice. Once I put the ports on, I cover the ends with my fingertips and try to inhale/exhale to be sure I have a good seal on the adhesive. In over 2 years, only once have I not had a good seal and that night I actually had to remove that particular port and use another. No idea what I did differently that night! Once I attach the interface and click it into place (which I admit can sometimes be a bit difficult...painful arthritis in the fingers of one hand! ), I cover the end of the short hose with the palm of my hand and inhale/exhale. If I get a lot of noise or it is easy to breathe, I know I have not gotten the interface completely/correctly seated onto the ports.

I usually only get leaks if my mouth drops open during the night. That does happen occasionally. Fortunately, not often enough or for long enough to impact my therapy. But if hubby is awake, he can hear the difference!

Do you have the vent diffuser? It makes a big difference reducing noise!

Do you have the black velcro covering the vents with filters? With that on I don't hear anything. They're sold on Amazon when you need extras, along with the filters.
